Tando Adam police here on Tuesday arrested the assistant postmaster-general, operations, Sindh, Shams- ul-Hassan Zaidi, in connection with a blasphemy case registered against him.

Investigation team of the police arrived in the office and sought permission of the deputy postmaster-general to arrest the accused. The complainant in the case, Allama Ahmed Mian Hamadi, accompanied the team.
He had lodged the case under sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 295-C {use of derogatory remarks in respect of the Holy Prophet(PBUH)} of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the complainant, the accused had allegedly written a letter to the district president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, in which he had claimed to be an Imam.

Shahbaz Ahmad and his followers were booked by the Nishatabad police under sections 295-B and 295-C of the Blasphemy Act, 146, 148, 149, 186, 324, 353 and 427 of the PPC, 16-MPO, 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 13/20/65 on a written complaint of city DSP Malik Abdul Rasheed on Dec 15 last.
According to the prosecution, a group of some 30 armed men appeared on Sargodha Road and made an announcement that ‘Imam Mehdi’ had appeared. They also opened fire on the general public and the police party, headed by the city DSP. They threatened if their leader was not accepted as ‘Imam Mehdi’, the entire country would be destroyed and there would be an earthquake. One passerby was injured in their firing.
Feb 2006:
FIR says Mumtaz Husain had used derogatory words against the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and his family in the presence of some other staff members. Two of the teachers, Riaz Ahmad and Muhammad Younis, moved an application to the DPO for registration of a case against Mumtaz.
The DPO got the allegations investigated and directed the police to register a case against the offending teacher under sections 295-A and 295-C of the PPC.
The police arrested the accused after the FIR was registered on Feb 25 this year.

Reports said Abdul Ghaffar of Bakhshi Park locality lodged a written complaint with the police, stating that his nephew Faisal Gulzar was going towards Faizan Islam seminary after attending an Eid-i-Milad procession on Sunday when he saw Salamat Masih and Babo Masih committing blasphemy. The accused removed a sticker pasted on a pocket and trampled it underfoot. The sticker had the pictures of Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) `Naalain Mubarik’ and the tomb, Mr Ghaffar said.

29 Mar 2010: MIRPURKHAS: A complete strike was observed here on Sunday in protest against the display of a banner by a religious Anjuman hurting the feelings of the people.
The administration made strict security arrangements in the city to avert any untoward incident. However, dozens of youth forced the shopkeepers to close down shops. However, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the city. A large number of enraged people surrounded the town police station and staged a sit-in demanding registration of a case.
Later, religious leaders, Maulana Hafeez-ur-Rahman Faiz, Iltimas Sabir and Maulana Muhammad Ali Siddiq, intervened and a case, under Section 295-A and 298 PPC was lodged with the Town police station.
Maulana Muhammad Ali Siddiq was the complainant. The nominated accused are Syed Arsalan, son of Syed Mohsin Ali, Ishtiaq Ahmad Ansari and Muhammad Sabir Chundrigar.

22 Aug 2010: FIVE BOOKED FOR ‘FRAUD’: Kalar Kahar police on Saturday booked five people for fraud at Bhoun village.
According to details, Muhammad Saeed Hassan told the police that he came out from a mosque after offering Friday prayer and saw that there was a great rush of people and it was told that a grave was recovered while digging a water tank. He said that hundreds of people assembled there and Haji Imdad Hussain and his two brothers Abid Hussain and Noor Hussain along with Sabir Ijaz claimed that a coffin was there in the grave and a pious man was also lying in the grave in its original position. Another local religious figure Pir Khalid Shah also confirmed that this was the grave of a holy man. On this, the people demanded that the grave should be opened. In the meantime, the Kalar Kahar police SHO along with heavy contingent of police reached the spot to handle the situation. Later, the grave was dug and only 3 to 4 meter white cloth was recovered and some bricks were put in that white cloth. The people confirmed that this was a fake grave built by the owner of the land to attract and befool the people. The police also arrested Pir Khalid Shah and Abid Hussain while three others succeeded to flee. Later, the police registered a case against the accused persons under sections 295-A, 420 and 511. Further investigations are underway.

At least 15 people including three policemen were injured in clashes between Sunni and Shia groups in the province on the 10th and 11th of muharram.
Separate cases were registered in these clashes with Khangarh and Jhang police under the blasphemy laws and anti-terrorism act.
A rally organised in Khangarh on Wednesday by members of the Sunni-Deobandi school of thought in protest against self flagellation by Shia mourners during a Muharram 10 procession on Tuesday, was intercepted at Shah Jamal Chowk and allegedly assaulted by 30 to 40 Shias. SHO Javed Akhter and two others were injured due to shooting at the scene.
An FIR registered after the incident alleged that between 30 and 40 members of the Shia sect, seven of whom were nominated, committed blasphemy (under Sections 295-C , 295-A and 298) by tearing down and desecrating pamphlets with ‘Allah’ and the name of the Holy Prophet written on it.

A local court on Tuesday jailed a 42-year-old Muslim man for life for burning a Quran, officials said.
Naseem Ahmed, a father of three, was arrested last June on charges of desecrating Islam’s holy book in Lasda village of Kashmir, about 40 kilometres east of the regional capital Muzaffarabad.

“My younger brother and sister didn’t care about their school books and used to leave them scattered around the house,” Ahmed told AFP, speaking by telephone from custody.
“One day I came home and got angry at seeing the books scattered. I collected them up and burnt them. My mother admonished me, telling me that among the books I burnt, was a copy of Holy Quran,” he said.
“The neighbour overheard and called the police. Members of a rival (Sunni Muslim) sect with whom I had been clashing in the past suddenly became active in this case that is why I have been convicted,” he said.

On the complaints of a Pakistani woman based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the city police booked a man on Wednesday on accusations of blasphemy for declaring himself Imam Mehdi.
The woman, a permanent resident of Dubai, lodged a complaint through the Pakistani embassy in UAE accusing Hafeezullah, who identified himself as a retired Pakistan army major, of having sent her emails containing information that was interpreted as derogatory by the Islamabad police’s legal experts, said a police official at the Secretariat Police Station.
The Secretariat police registered a case against Hafeezullah under section 295-A for blasphemy.

Unfortunately, the police could not stop 3,000-plus ASWJ conference participants from shouting sectarian slogans. According to Ashfaq Waheedi of the Shia Ulema Council (SUC), “The participants chanted such slogans many times during the conference”. “We have video evidence of this, which we have already provided to the police,” he told The Express Tribune.
The SUC moved an application in the Aabpara Police Station for registration of a blasphemy case under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against ASWJ chief Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi, Khadim Hussain Dhillon and some unknown members of ASWJ for raising anti-Shia slogans.
“They dishonoured our sect, which amounts to blasphemy,” said Waheedi, adding that the police were not registering an FIR on their complaint.
Dozens of council supporters and activists gathered outside the police station and raised slogans, vowing “not to move until the FIR was registered”.
The Aabpara Police said they were consulting the police’s legal branch for advice as the two main accused in the application — Ludhianvi and Dhillon — were not directly involved in the act. Also, they were trying to determine if any of the blasphemy sections of the law were applicable.
Later, a case under PPC Section 188 and the Amplifier Act was registered. The crowd that had assembled outside Aabpara Police Station dispersed soon after.

The Aabpara police have registered an FIR under section 295-A (blasphemy) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the ASWJ leadership for “spreading sectarian hatred” during their speeches at a conference held on the death anniversary of Maulana Azam Tariq on Friday.
The police have nominated a total of 14 activists in the FIR, alleging that the speakers misused loudspeakers made inflammatory speeches spreading hatred during the conference.
The ASWJ president, Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi, Secretary-General Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi, Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz and others have been nominated in the FIR.

محکمہ انسداد دہشت گردی کے ایس ایس پی عطا الرحمان کے مطابق محمد ثقلین کوگذشتہ ماہ گرفتار کیا گیا اور محکمے نے ان پر انسداد دہشت گردی ایکٹ کی شق 980-A اور 11-W کے تحت فرقہ وارانہ نفرت پھیلانے کے الزام میں مقدمہ درج کیا۔
محکمے کے مطابق ان پر توہین رسالت کے خلاف قوانین کی شق 298-A کی خلاف ورزی کرنے کا بھی الزام ہے۔
ایس ایس پی عطا الرحمان کے مطابق مقدمے کے مدعی خود محکمہ انسداد دہشت گردی کے اہلکار تھے۔

واضح رہے کہ چند روز قبل فیصل آباد کی نسداد دہشت گردی کی عدالت نے ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ سے تعلق رکھنے والے ذیشان شوکت کو فیس بک پر فرقہ وارانہ مواد پوسٹ کرنے کے الزام میں پانچ سال قید سنائی تھی۔
ان کے خلاف مذہبی تنظیم اہل سنت والجماعت نے مقدمہ درج کرایا تھا۔
اسی طرح کے ایک اور مقدمے میں اہل سنت والجماعت کے سابق صدر مفتی تنویر کو گذشتہ اکتوبر میں چھ مہینے قید کی سزا سنائی گئی تھی۔

An anti-terrorism court has jailed a Shia Muslim for 13 years after he posted what it deemed sectarian hate speech on Facebook, officials said Monday, with rights activists condemning the ruling as “extremely concerning”.
Saqlain Haidar, 32, who ran a small hotel in Chiniot was also fined Rs250,000 for “posting hateful material against companions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)”, an official of the Counter Terrorism Department told AFP, requesting anonymity.

In May an imam in the Kasur district of Punjab was jailed for five years for inciting hate against a rival minority Shia sect. In October a former leader of a banned sectarian party was imprisoned for six months for hate speech.

Abid Rasheed in his complaint lodged with police said suspect ‘S’ had an argument with his friend Saqib Sattar over a trifle a couple of days back. During the course of discussion, the suspect allegedly uttered derogatory remarks about a companion of the prophet. The FIR quoted the complainant as saying that the suspect later repented of what he had said.
Sara-i-Mughal police registered the case under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion and religious beliefs) and 298-A (use of derogatory remarks, etc in respect of holy personages) of PPC. The 20-year-old suspect is a tailor and he has been arrested.

Earlier on Friday, City Phoolnagar police registered a case against a man on charges of blasphemy and arrested him. According to complainant Qamarudin Noorani, general secretary of Sunni Ulema Council, Jamia Masjid Siddiquia, 30-year-old suspect “S”, a fertiliser dealer, allegedly uploaded a picture (drawing) and statement on Facebook carrying derogatory words regarding a religious personality and shared it with others.
The case was registered under sections 295-A, 298-A and Cyber Crime Act 2016.

میں اسوقت سیشن کورٹ لاہور میں جناب چودھری ظفر اقبال کی عدالت کے باہر موجود ہوں۔ اس عدالت میں نصیری العقیدہ ذاکر آصف نصیر علوی اور اس کے ہم عقیدہ بھائی ذاکر کامران عباس بی اے کے خلاف درج مقدمہ زیر دفعہ بی 109 /295 زیر سماعت ہے ۔ سماعت کا آغاز ہوا تو نصیری آصف نصیر علوی اور نصیری کامران بی اے کے وکلاء نے مقدمہ کی سماعت ملتوی کرنے کی استدعا کی اور موقف اختیار کیا کہ ان کے سینئر وکیل آج پیش نہیں ہوسکتے۔
مدعی مقدمہ مجاہد کے وکلاء نے تاریخ دینے کی مخالفت کرتے ہوئے موقف اختیار کیا کہ وہ بحث کے لیے تیار ہیں ۔اور ہم چار بجے شام تک انتظار کر لیتے ہیں لیکن نصیریوں کے وکلاء التواء کی درخواست پر زور دیتے رہے ۔
جس پر عدالت نے قرار دیا کہ آج بحث ہوگی اور گیارہ بجے تک سماعت ملتوی کردی ۔
گیارہ بجے سماعت دوبارہ ہوئی تو مدعی کے وکیل سید فرہاد علی شاہ پیش ہوئے اور وکیل مخالف کی استدعا پر سماعت پیر تک ملتوی کرنے سے اتفاق کیا اور سماعت آئندہ پیر تک ملتوی کردی گئی
