"Go on the streets and repent for your sins," Ayatollah Aziz Khoshvaqt, one of the country's highest clerics, told worshipers during a recent sermon in northern Tehran. "A holy torment is upon us. Leave town."

"If it is vice that causes earthquakes, there should be floods and volcano eruptions as well in Tehran, because all sins are committed in this huge city," said an unemployed resident who gave his name only as Maysam.

Khoshvaqt has gone so far as to alert President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of the danger, according to a Web site related to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps. During a recent speech, Ahmadinejad noted that a cleric had informed him that an earthquake was unavoidable.

Swift action has been taken. Ahmadinejad has announced that the government should start work on programs to help at least 5 million people relocate from Tehran in the coming years. Ministers have announced bonuses of up to 50 percent for government employees willing to depart for other regions.

There are even discussions about moving the headquarters of state institutions; the Tehran-based National Museum of Iran has questioned when its collection of 300,000 artifacts can be taken to a safer locale.

The cleric, Kazem Sedighi, sparked widespread derision with his pronouncements in a prayer sermon last month that women who don’t dress modesty spread adultery in society, in turn increasing earthquakes.
In Tehran’s main weekly prayer sermon on Friday, he defended the claim but added some further explanation on why some places are hit more than others.
“Some ask why (more) earthquakes and storms don’t occur in the Western world, which suffers from the slime of homosexuality, the slime of promiscuity and has plunged up to the neck” in immorality, he said.
“Who says they don’t occur? Storms take place in the U.S. and other parts of the world. We don’t say committing sin is the entire reason but it’s one of the reasons,” he said.
But, he said, “sometimes, God tests a nation. … (God says) if believers sin, We slap them because We love them and give them calamity in order to stop their bad deeds.”
“And those who have provoked God’s wrath, He allows them (to commit sins) so that they go to the bottom of hell,” Sedighi said.

ترجمہ: جس معاشرے ميں چار چيزيں عام اور اعلانيہ ہو جائيں چار مصيبتيں اور بلائيں اس معاشرے کو گھير ليتی ہيں:

زنا عام ہو جائے، زلزلہ اور ناگہانی موت فراوان ہو گی۔

زکوة اور خمس دينے سے امتناع کيا جائے، پالتو حيوانات تلف ہونگے۔

حکام اور قضات ستم اور بے انصافی کی راہ اپنائيں، خدا کی رحمت کی بارشيں برسنا بند ہونگی۔

اور ذمی کفار کو تقويت ملے تو مشرکين مسلمانوں پر غلبہ پائيں گے۔

12 June 2016: Iranian women who wear immodest clothing have caused the nation’s rivers to run dry and damaged the environment, a senior cleric has claimed.
Ayatollah Yousef Tabatabai-Nejad, an arch conservative prayer leader in the city of Isfahan, said that a strict Islamic dress code must be enforced to ward off drought. The controversial cleric, previously accused of provoking acid attacks on women who flouted the dress code and for advocating the use of the whip, called for a new crackdown on the phenomenon of “bad hijab”, meaning that women are not properly covered up.
During a sermon at the weekend, Mr Tabatabai-Nejad railed against the growing trend among Iranian women to post online photographs of themselves without their headscarf.
“They have brought me pictures that shows women by the side of the dry Zayanderud river,” the cleric said. “These actions will ensure the upper stream of the river will become dry too. Believe me it is true.
“You may ask yourself why European countries with so much crime and sin have so much rainfall . . . God punishes the believer, for remaining silent and letting girls take pictures by the river as if they were in European countries.”

آیت الله مجتهدی در شرح این حدیث می گویند: امروزه به عذاب هایی که نازل می شود، می گویند قهر طبیعت! قهر طبیعت یعنی چه؟ من نمی فهمم چرا در رادیو و تلویزیون این قدر قهر طبیعت می گویند؟ چرا در مدرسه ها به بچه ها می گویید موقع زلزله زیر صندلی پنهان شوند؟ به آن ها یاد بدهید که گناه نکنند. نمی گویند خانم حجابت را حفظ کن رویت را بگیر بچه نماز بخوان دین داشته باش، این چیزها را نمی گویند. اما می گویند موقع زلزله برو زیر صندلی. چرا به بچه ها این چیزها را آموزش نمی دهید؟


ایشان در ادامه می افزایند: طلبه ای می گفت چند سال پیش در گلستان سیل آمد. ما شاهد بودیم که سیل با سرعت می آمد تا اینکه به دهی رسید که مردم آن ده همگیشان ساداتند. سیل به آنجا که رسید راهش را کج کرد و رفت به سمت دیگر و اهل منطقه دیگری را که دیگر نمی گویم چه کسانی بودند از بین برد. این سادات هیچ چیزشان نشد. سیل قاعدتا باید مستقیم می رفت ولی راهش را کج کرد. در روایات داریم اگر یک مومن در شهری باشد در آن شهر عذاب نمی آید.


آیت الله مجتهدی تصریح می کنند: پس اینکه مردم می گویند وقتی عذاب بیاید خشک و تر با هم می سوزند، اشتباه است. قهر طبیعت یعنی چه پس آیات قرآن درباره قوم ثمود و عاد هست را عوض کنید و به جای کلمه عذاب بنویسید قهر طبیعت این ها عذاب است. متاسفانه نمی گویند. چرا وقتی در بم زلزله آمد یک آخوند یا یک طلبه نمرد. چرا مسجد جامع بم خراب نشد. از رادیو و تلویزیون تقاضا کنید نگویند قهر طبیعت بگویند عذاب تا مردم یک مقدار گناه نکنند.

The flood must, of course, have to go straight but tilt its way. In narrations, if a believer is in a city, he will not be tormented in that city.


Ayatullah Mujtahidi states: "So people say that when it comes to torment, they burn dry and wet together, it's a mistake. The cruelty of nature means, then, change the verses of the Qur'an about the people of Thamud and Aad, and instead of the word doom, the wrath of nature is torment. Unfortunately, they are not saying. Why did not a mullah or a scholar die when the earthquake struck Bam. Why did the Bam mosque did not crash? Do not ask the radio and television not to say that the power of nature is to punish people so that they do not commit a sin.

روزی که در بم زلزله آمد خیلی ها از زلزله ی شدید آن روز ، از یک حادثه ی طبیعی سخن گفتند اما استاد بزرگوار ما حضرت آیت الله
مجتهدی رحمت الله علیه با شجاعتی مثال زدنی که شاید خیلی ها آنروز نمی خواستند بیان کنند و از زلزله به خشم طبیعت یاد می کردند ؛ فرمودند :
این زلزله خشم حضرت حق و نزول عذاب الهی بوده است .

تکرار زلزله هنگام فوت یک عالم برجسته
در سال ۱۳۸۶ پس از فوت آیت الله فاضل لنکرانی زلزله‌ای نسبتاً قوی، قم را لرزاند که به سبب وقوع در عمق زیاد، خسارت چندانی نداشت.
 امروز آیت الله حائری شیرازی درگذشت و این دومین بار است که پس از فوت یک عالم برجسته، شهر قم شاهد وقوع #زلزله است.

آیت الله استادی با اشاره به برخی عوامل تأثیرگذار بر خشکسالی اظهار داشت: گناه سبب منع نزول باران می شود، امام سجاد(ع) می فرماید از گناه هایی که با عث می شود باران نازل نشود قضاوت های جائرانه حکام و شهادت دروغ است.

وی عدم پرداخت زکات را از عوامل خشکسالی عنوان کرد و ادامه داد: کسانی که بتوانند قرض الحسنه بدهند اما این کار را نکنند از جمله عوامل خواهد بود، اگر انسان نداری فقیر را ببیند و می داند مشکل دارد اما بی تفاوت باشد یا به یتیمی ظلم کند مانع نزول باران و سبب خشکسالی می شود.
