A second issue was the attitude of Shi‘i clerics, government officials, and laypersons toward Hindus. The clerical attitude can be easily summarized. Sayyid Dildar ‘Ali Nasirabadi harbored an almost violent animosity toward Hindus, arguing that the Awadh government should take stern measures against them. He divided unbelievers into three kinds, those (harbi ) against whom Muslims must make war, those (dhimmi ) who have accepted Muslim rule and pay a poll-tax, and those (musta'min ) whom their Muslim rulers have temporarily granted security of life.^[8] He insisted that Imami Shi‘ism accepted only Jews and Christians as protected minorities (dhimmis ), and even they could only achieve this status if they observed the ordinances governing it. He differed with Sunni schools that considered Hindus a protected minority.

He wrote that Muslims could only grant infidels personal security (aman ) in a country they ruled for one year, lamenting that the government had long treated as grantees of personal security the Hindus of northern India, who openly followed their idolatrous religion, drinking wine, and sometimes even mating with Sayyid women. He complained that the irreligious Sunni Mughal rulers of India neither made war against the Hindus nor forced them to accept Islam. Legally, nonetheless, the lives and property of Hindus could be licitly taken by Muslims. Nasirabadi shared this rather bloodthirsty attitude with other Muslim clerics, of course. The Sunni Naqshbandi thinker Shah Valiyu'llah (1703-62) wanted the Mughals to ban Hinduism.

Extracts from the book "Shi'a Islam in Colonial India: Religion, Community and Sectarianism" By Justin Jones. Shia landlords supported Aligarh but some Shia mullahs issued fatwas against Sir Syed and forced Raja Mahmudabad to withdraw financial support to Aligarh in 1891 (154-155). Some Shias joined Sunnis in declaring jihad against British in 1857 (page 167) but things changed later and British considered Shias loyal and indifferent to jihad (169-170). Shia newspaper Ittehad, founded in 1910, repeatedly made claims that Shias were the most loyal among Muslims and would never make jihad against them (page 170).

تاریخ میں ہے جب ہندوستان میں اکبر بادشاہ کی حکومت تھی اس وقت وہ لاہور میں شاہی قلعہ بنوا رہا تھا ۔۔اس کے دربار کے سارے عالم اور advisor شیعہ تھے ۔ اس کی وجہ ؟ امام علی ؑ نے کہا تھا کہ اتنا علم حاصل کرو کہ بڑی بڑی حکومتیں تمہاری محتاج ہو جائیں ۔لیکن شیعہ تقیہ میں تھے۔ جب جہانگیر بادشاہ کا دور آیا اس نے شہید ثالث کو چیف جسٹس مقرر کیا اور وہ تمام تر مذاہب کے مسئلہ ان کے فقہ سے حل کرتے تھے چاروں فقہ پر عبور حاصل تھا حنفی مالکی حنبلی شافعی ۔۔

وہ جواب اپنی فقہ سے دیتے تھے اور ان مذاہب کے فقہ میں سے کچھ نہ کچھ ساتھ ملا دیتے تھے ۔

ایک بار علمائ سے بحث کے دوران ان کی زبان سے نکلا علی علیہ اسلام یہ سننا تھا کہ معتصب سنی علما ٗ نے کہا کہ یہ رافضی ہے اور کاغذات تیار کر کے جہانگیر بادشاہ کو بھیجوائے ۔

جہانگیر بادشاہ نے انہیں طلب کیا دربار میں جب یہ دربار میں پہنچے تو ایک شیعہ جو تقیہ میں تھا اس نے کہا کہ آپ جھوٹ کہہ دیں کہ آپ نے ایسا نہیں کہا شہید ثالث نے کہا علی والا جھوٹ نہیں بولتا۔۔

جہانگیر بادشاہ نے کہا تم  نے توہین رسالت کی ہے علی نہ نبی ہیں اور نہ ہی رسول انہیں علیہ اسلام کیوں کہا تم واجب القتل ہو تمہیں قتل کیا جائے گا ۔۔۔

اس وقت دربار میں سے ایک سنی شاعر اٹھا اس نے کہا بادشاہ قتل کا حکم دینے سے پہلے میرے دو مصرعے سن لے اس کے بعد حکم دینا کہا کہو ۔۔ اس نے کہا یہ تو مانتا ہے نا کہ غدیر کے موقعہ پر رسول نے کہا تھا لحمک لحمی و دمک دمی اس حدیث کو علی کی شان میں مانتا ہے نا تو ؟

کہا ہاں مانتا ہوں کہا تو پھر سن
گر لحمک لحمی حدیث نبوی ہے
تو پھر صلی علیٰ نام علی بے ادبی ہے

بادشاہ نے شہید ثالث کو چھوڑ دیا ۔ جب گھر پہنچے بیوی نے کہا آپ آ گئے کہا ہاں میں آگیا ۔۔جب صبح گئے تھے تو نماز شب زیارات وارثہ اور زیارات جامعہ و عاشورہ پڑھ کے امام سے دعا کی تھی کہ مولا آپ مدد کرنا ابھی مجھے بہت زیادہ کام کرنا ہے ۔ اس کے بعد انہوں نے ۱۴ سال کام کیا اس کے بعد ان کی ایک کتاب پکڑی گئی مجالس امیرالمومنین اس کی وجہ سے جہانگیر بادشاہ نے دوبارہ بلایا جب دربار میں پہنچے تو درباریوں نے کہا آپ معافی مانگ لیں اس وقت یادگار جملے ارشاد فرمائے جن کی وجہ سے میں نے یہ واقعہ آپ کے سامنے تحریر کیا ۔۔ کہ اب مجھے زندگی کی نہیں بلکہ ہندوستان میں میری شہادت شیعت کو مضبوط کرے گی ۔اس کے بعد ان کی زبان کاٹی گئی کوڑے مارے گئے جس سے شہادت واقعہ ہوئی اور تین دن تک لاش کچرے میں پڑی رہی ایک روایت کے مطابق رسول خدا صلی اللہ علیہ و آل وسلم نے خواب میں جہانگیر کو کہا کہ میری اولاد کو ظلم و ستم سے تم نے شہید کیا اب انہیں دفنانے کا حکم دو ۔۔
جہانگیر کا نام نام یذید کی طرح مٹ گیا اور شہید ثالث نور اللہ شوستری کا نام نام حسین ؑ کی طرح زندہ ہے اور تاثیر ہم سر زمین ہندوستان و پاکستان کی شیعت میں دیکھ سکتے ہیں

In three south-Indian kingdoms the state also pro­moted Twelver Shiʿism in the 16th century (see Rizvi). A Turkman soldier of fortune from Hamadān, Solṭān­qolī Qoṭb-al-Dīn, founded the long-lived Qoṭbšāhī dynasty (915-1098/1512-1687) at Golconda, near Hyderabad in the Deccan. The dynasty sponsored Shiʿite Friday prayers and mourning ceremonies for Imam Ḥosayn, as well as other Twelver institutions (Ferešta, tr. Briggs, III, pp. 321-35, 339-484; Hollister, pp. 120-25). In nearbyBījāpūr the ʿĀdelšāhī dynasty (895-1097/1490-1686) also favored Shiʿism. These rulers proclaimed themselves vassals of the Safavids and employed large numbers of immigrant Persians in the military and the bureaucracy. They also hired 300 Persians to curse the Sunni caliphs and sided with the Shiʿites in the frequent outbreaks of Sunni-­Shiʿite violence in their domain (Ferešta, tr. Briggs, III, pp. 3-188; Eaton, pp. 64-70, 114-24). North of Bījāpūr, in Ahmadnagar, Borhān Neẓāmšāh (914-61/1508-53) adopted Shiʿism as the state religion under the influence of the scholar and bureaucrat Shah Ṭāher Esmāʿīlī (fl. ca. 1500), a political refugee from Persia. Shiʿism remained influential among the elite of Ahmadnagar for most of the century (Šūštarī, II, pp. 234-40; Ferešta, tr. Briggs, III, pp. 189-320; Hollister, pp. 117-120). All these dynasties devoted consider­able energy to spreading Twelver Shiʿism among their subjects but succeeded only in creating a class of Shiʿite notables and converting a few urban artisans. The rural masses remained Hindu, and most Muslim notables and artisans remained Sunni. The rulers also developed a Twelver culture, and the tradition of Urdu marṯīas, threnodies for the martyred Imam Ḥosayn, began at their courts. All these kingdoms were even­tually incorporated into the Sunni Mughal empire, however.

Also in the 16th century a Twelver dynasty, the Čāks, ruled briefly (969-98/1561-89) in Kashmir. The Nūrbaḵšīya Sufi order, which leaned toward Shiʿism, had spread to Kashmir in the late 15th century, and under the Čāks its members formally embraced Shiʿism. Sunni resistance provided an excuse for the Mughal Akbar I (963-1014/1556-1605) to depose the Čāks and annex Kashmir in 998/1589. The emperor settled political defectors from Safavid Persia in Kashmir, providing them with substantial emoluments (Ferešta, tr. Briggs, IV, pp. 444-50, 508-30; Manucci, II, p. 116; Hollister, pp. 141-50)

The Barha sayyeds were incorporated into the Mughal elite and became kingmakers in the 18th century. The local influence of such families could be great. In the 19th century the Shiʿite sayyeds of Zaidpur (now in Uttar Pradesh) controlled ten mosques and seventeen emāmbāras (buildings for mourning Imam Ḥosayn), and they permitted no Sunni mosques or Hindu temples in their town (Hāšem-ʿAlī; ʿĀbed Ḥosayn; Gazetteer I, pp. 14-17, 141, 179, 201, 324, II, pp. 82-83, 99-100; Cole, passim).

Among artisans Shiʿite patronage encouraged adop­tion of Twelver Shiʿism. Bards and storytellers (naqqāls), for example, tended to be Sunni under Sunni rulers but Shiʿite in the post-Mughal Twelver kingdom of Avadh (q.v.; Oudh). The dyer caste was also divided into Sunni and Shiʿite groups, who re­fused to intermarry. Servants and peasants of Shiʿite gentry families frequently accepted the religion of their masters. Women of the ṭawāʾef, or courtesan caste, in northern cities like Lahore and Lucknow frequently also adopted Shiʿism, either through the influence of patrons or because Twelver acceptance of temporary marriage (moṭʿa) lent some legitimacy to their occupation (Crooke, I, pp. 256-59, IV, pp. 229-32, 364-71; Ẓafaryāb, pp. 468-69; Tandon, pp. 188-89; Cole, chap. 3).

"Musa Raina managed to acquire the office of Wazir (Prime Minister) in 1501. Coincidentally, it was the year when Safavid rulers declared Twelver Islam as state religion of Iran and forced majority of its subjects to embrace Shia faith. Musa Raina continued to administer the state for the next nine years which made the period congenial for Shams-ud-din Iraqi to propagate the Shia faith among the people of Kashmir. Musa Raina ordered the construction of khanaqah for Shams Iraqi at Zadibal in the vicinity of Srinagar. With the constant support from indigenous chieftains, Shams Iraqi acquired a prominent position of a Sufi saint in Kashmir and widened his mission of converting the people into his orientation of Islam. Under the guidance of Shams-ud-din, Musa Raina discarded all secular policies which were once adopted and installed by great ruler Sultan Zain-ul-Abideen. Musa Raina patronized Iraqi and bestowed him with jagir, orchards, gardens, ornaments, costumes, horses, jewelry, gold, etc which were utilised by Shams Iraqi for the construction of a khanaqah at zadibal. He indulged in forceful conversion of Pandit population, destruction of temples and other institutions of Hindus. Musa Raina acquired the reigns of government for nine years in which he took stern measures to convert the people to his faith. He destroyed all the idol-houses which almost included eighteen big temples of Hindus in the city of Srinagar and the adjoining rural areas. Musa Raina resorted to coercive measures and later, changed his policy to appeasement by rewarding those converts who came into the Shi'ite fold of Islam. It is believed that twenty four thousand Hindu families were converted to the Islamic faith mostly by the coercive measures undertaken by state authorities. It is substantiated by the fact that as soon as Musa Raina died, these Hindus reverted to their original faith and customs."

The reign of terror which occurred during the regime of Musa Raina was repeated by Shams Chak. Mir Shams-ud-din Iraqi ordered the massacre of Pandits and polytheists. In 1518, there happened an open massacre of Hindus, in fact a full-fledged state policy was executed in which the most influential leaders and other prominent Hindu personalities were killed who actually used to exercise greater influence on people belonging to their community. The year 1518 witnessed the killing of around 700-800 Pandits who formed an intellectual class of their community which gave crippling blow to the entire Pandit population along with their age old beliefs and customs (the incident is recorded in Baharistan Shahi). By the time Shams-ud-din Iraqi died in 1526, Shi'ism had taken already deep roots in the religious life as well as the politics of Kashmir; not all Chaks (Chaks from Kupwara belonged to Sunni faith) but prominent among them who had acquired huge political eminence and managed to transfer the throne of Kashmir from Shahmir dynasty to their own community, had joined the Shi'ite faith openly by reading Khutba on the name of twelve Imams of Islam.

The  seeds  of  discord  were  already  sown  by  Shams-ud- din  Iraqi  by  designating  his  ideology,  the  purest  form  of  Isl am  which  indirectly  questioned  the  faith  of  Muslims  who  were   practicing  Islam  from  hundreds  of  years  in  the  valley.  This  id eological  conflict intensified by harsh treatment which Shia  followers met  under  the  orders  of  Mirza  Haider  Dauglat.  These  ind ifferences  and   disagreements   forced   the   followers   to   adopt   sec tarian  identities  each  professing  themselves  better  than  t he  opposing  ideology.   The   harsh   discrimination   which   Haider   Dau glat  inflicted  on  Shias  started  never  ending  clashes  bet ween  Shias  and Sunnis of the valley. He murdered Shaikh Daniya l who was  one  of  the  prominent  Shia  figures  which  deeply  move d  his  followers.   In   1550,   Malik   Haider   was   murdered   by   th e  aggravated nobles and the  state once again came int o the  hands  of Chak dynasty. It was Daulat Chak who revived Shi 'ism in the  region  by  declaring  it  as  state  religion  and  read  khutba   in  the  names of twelve  Imams .  He also forced Sunni Muslim to adopt  this Shia faith.

During the reign of Husain  Shah  Chak, in the  year  1568,  Yusuf  Mandav,  a  Shia  fanatic  seriously  w ounded  Qazi-ul-Qazzat ,  Sayyid  Habibullah  Khwarizmi.  An  immediate  arrest  of  the  culprit  was  issued  by  the  ruler  and  t he  jury  summoned Yusuf Mandav stoned to death. As the  Qazi  survived  his  wounds,  the  Shia  community  demanded  death  sente nce  for  the jurists responsible for Yusuf Mandav's killing.  On the orders  of  Mirza  Muqim  (Shia  follower)  who  had  come  to  visi t  Sultan  Husain  Shah's  court  along  with  Mir  Yaqub  as  an  envo y  from  Mughal  emperor,  Akbar,  the  execution  of  Sunni  jurists,  Qazi  Musa  and  Mulla  Yusuf  was  undertaken  and  their  dead  bodies  were  dragged  around  the  city  and  caused  dissension  among  the  Sunni   community.   The   representatives  of  Sunni population  approached Akbar to intervene in the issue. Though,  there were  certainly  many  underlying  cause  for  the  Mughal  conq uest  of  Kashmir,    this    first    Shia-Sunni    conflict    made    Kashmi r  apparently, a soft target of Mughal subjugation.

One   non-native   dynasty    was  replaced  by  another  but  the  estranged  sects  were  pr e-occupied  with   their   socio-religious   differences   and   allegati ons;   they  sustained  their  political  subjugation  to  the  outsid e  rulers  for  hundreds of  years but never accepted to be ruled by  each other.  This is substantiated by a fact that last Chak rule r, Sultan Yaqub  Shah  executed  Mulla  Musa  for  not  reciting    the  name   of  'Ali',  the  first  Iman   in  the  prayers  which  made  the  Sunni  community  under  the  leadership  of  Shaikh  Yaqub  Sarfi,  prompt  Akbar  to  take over the reins of the country.

Under  Jahangir,   a  family  of  Maliks   of  Chadura  who  happened  to  be  Shia,  dominated  the  political  scene  of  Kashmir  for  some  period  of  time.   Haider  Malik   who   was  given  the   titles  and  of   ' Rais-ul-Mulk '  and  ' chughtai ' and his brother Malik Ali became the most promine nt  political figure during Jahangir’s reign 8 . They reconstructed the  khanaqah   of  Shams-ud-din  Iraqi  at  Zadibal  and  Hasanabad  which  increased  the  contempt  of  Sunni  officials  for   shia  creed.  In  the  same  period,  a  section  of  Srinagar  along  wit h  Jamia  Masjid  caught  fire  and  Maliks   were  given  the  responsibility  to  extinguish  it  but  failed  to  save  the  Jamia  Masjid.  The  Sunnis  held  Maliks  responsible  for  the  destruction  of  masj id  for  which  Emperor  Jahangir  ordered  them  to  reconstruct  the  mo sque  at  their  own  expenses.  This  episode  further  intensifie d  enmity  between  the  two  sects.  The  relationship  between  the se  two  groups   had   become   so   vulnerable   that   a   minor   argume nt  between people belonging to two opposite sects turn ed into ugly  clashes.  For  instance,  the  sectarian  riots  of  the  y ear  1636  got  clicked  by  a  fight  between  a  few  persons  who  starte d  an  argument about Shia-Sunni differences. The fight st arted with a  mere  argument  and  engulfed  the  entire  population  of   Srinagar  which  resulted  in  targeting  of  the  khanaqahs   of  Zadibal  and  Hasanabad.  Besides,  many  Shias  were  victimized  and  some  among   them   lost   their   lives   and   properties.   The   imp erial  authority  failed  to  come  up  with  any  effective  poli cy  which  would  have  checked  if  not  eliminated  the  growing  an tagonism  between the two groups.

Limiting the ‘elite’ to Shias in Awadh, Naqvi either forgets or consciously chooses to ignore the cultural exchanges that were a part of the political transition from the Mughals to the Nawabs of Awadh.

Jessica Hinchy, who has worked on the criminalisation of eunuchs under colonial rule in British India, writes, “Reflecting the origins of the Awadh state in the Mughal Empire, Mughal cultural symbols predominated in court rituals. Yet, unlike the Mughals, who were Sunni, the Nawabs were Shia.” If Shia culture in Awadh promoted syncretism, was it not the Mughal Empire, and its Sunni culture, that had made that possible?

Furthermore, much of the aristocracy of Awadh was also Sunni. The population was largely adherents to particular Vaishnavite forms of worship, something Shahid Amin has documented well. Also, the court of Awadh was largely backed and overseen by the British. Considering all these factors, it seems simplistic in the extreme to locate the roots of Awadhi syncretism in the Shia faith of the Nawab and some of the nobility alone.

"Lucknow’s Sunni-Shia violence is a relatively recent phenomenon. The first riot took place in 1905. Violence there has tended to occur during Islamic holy days, particularly Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, when sectarian identities are particularly salient.
Violence was triggered in the 1905 episode when a Sunni cleric instructed youth near a Shia procession to chant incendiary verses praising the first three caliphs (madh-e sahaba). Some Shia replied with verses cursing the first three caliphs (tavarra). In Lucknow, violence continues to be sparked by madh-e-sahaba or tavarra recitals."

The ten-day long festival, recalling the martyrdom of Husain at Kerbala, was one of mourning for Bombay’s Shi’as (one of the two principal sects within Islam). But it was the carnivalesque Sunni (the other major sect within Islam) mode of celebration, centering on the parading of large wooden models of the mausoleum of Hussain at Karbala, known as ta’ziyas or tabuts, and accompanied by wandering tolis (street gangs) that was more prominent in the city during the late nineteenth century. Each street or neighbourhood had its own toli, largely comprising of youths drawn from the labouring classes irrespective of their religious affiliation. The size of the tolis varied depending on the affluence of the neighbourhood and the fund-raising abilities of its leaders. The clowns, mimics and acrobats that accompanied the tolis accentuated the carnivalesque character of the festival, ‘the like of which for extent and eccentricity, is to be found in few other cities in the world’. The Muharram festivities had been relatively free of violence for the better part of the nineteenth century, but during the 1890s an intensification of inter-neighbourhood competition and rivalry as well as the growing size of the street gangs ‘raised the specter of a threat to general stability’ in the official mind.

The tensions over the conduct of the Muharram festival centered largely on Doctor Street, a locality that had been predominantly inhabited by the Sunni lower classes until the 1890s. The Bohras, who were of the Shi’a sect, gradually began to move in to this street during the last decade of the century. By the turn of the century the neighbourhood had come to be dominated by the houses and mosques of the Bohras, a reflection of the economic prosperity of this ‘respectable’ trading community. It is likely that their economic and social superiority began to arouse resentment among their poorer neighbours, a feeling that was aggravated when the Bohras sought to assert their authority over Doctor Street by preventing the passage of the Muharram tolis through the locality.
On 23 March 1904, when a Muharram toli made its way through Doctor Street ‘playing music as is, and has been for many years, the custom in this street’, they were set upon by a crowd of Bohras. This incident prompted the police to immediately register its presence in the neighbourhood. The next night when another procession entered Doctor Street, a police party stationed outside the Bohra mosque stopped the music, resulting in a minor affray. Three days later a procession that set out from Rangari moholla, a neighbourhood predominantly inhabited by Muslim labourers, was again prevented by the police from going into Doctor Street and stoned by the Bohras living in an adjacent street when they passed through that area. The Rangari moholla processionists retaliated by attacking any Bohras whom they encountered on the streets. As a punitive measure, the police commissioner cancelled the festival license of the Rangari moholla and closed Doctor Street to all street processions for the remainder of the festival. The decision by the police to ban processions from passing through Doctor Street provoked widespread resentment among the adjacent neighbourhoods. The mood was thus sullen when the festival ended and shortly thereafter, popular anger against the Bohras of Doctor Street exploded into a riot in which the community was targeted for attack. Enraged crowds repeatedly surged through Bohra-dominated neighbourhoods in symbolic acts of violation of their territorial space. Bohras were attacked on the streets and the police were stoned at various points, prompting the police commissioner to call for military aid in suppressing the violence.
The tensions opened up by the riot of 1904 continued to simmer in the following years. In 1906, the Bohras of Doctor Street petitioned the police to use the special powers bestowed by the 1902 act to prevent the Muharram tolis from passing through the street between the fifth and final night of the festival. Police officials responded favourably to the Bohra petition and stationed a large contingent of policemen in Doctor Street during the festival in 1907. Their actions stoked the embers of popular resentment and eventually led to an even bigger conflagration in 1908. The riots that year were triggered by an affray involving a Julaha procession and some Sunnis who were praying in their mosque on Falkland Road on the immersion day. The police arrested three of the Sunnis allegedly involved in the incident, the news of which spread rapidly through the city. As a mark of protest many of the tolis refused to proceed with their tabuts and proceeded to attack both Bohras and the police. The law-enforcement agencies resorted to firing to clear the streets, resulting in forty-three casualties.

[Rashid Jahan's ] book [Angaray] was publicly condemned at the central standing committee of the All-India Shia Conference at Lucknow as a “filthy pamphlet” that had “wounded the feelings of the entire Muslim community”. The Urdu press called for a ban. Clerics issued fatwas. Demonstrations were held outside book stores and the publisher had to issue a written apology and surrender unsold copies to the government. Within three months of its publication, the British had banned this “immoral” book. Today, apparently just five copies of the original version exist.

Being an inalienable part of the Muslim brotherhood, the Shias of Kashmir have been active participants in the freedom struggle since the year 1924 when a committee of eight dignitaries convened by Khawja Saad-ud-din Shawl arranged to submit a memorandum of grievances based on the biased policy of the Dogra regime to the visiting viceroy. This was a significant milestone in our freedom struggle. The eight signatories to the memorandum besides the convener included Mirwaiz Ahmadullah of Rajouri Kadal, Mirwaiz Hamdani and three Shia members including Aga Syed Hussain Jalali, and Hajji Jaffer Khan. This was followed by setting up a committee under Khawja Ghulam Ahmad Ashai which included government employees and educated youth, with the objective of bringing to fore the discriminations faced by Muslims in the state, especially in recruitment of government services. Two young Shia brothers Hakim Ali and Hakim Ghulam Safdar were a part of this underground committee. Hakim Ghulam Safdar, the sole Muslim employee in Accountant General’s department at risk of his service managed to take out civil list from the confidential branch of his office. The committee arranged its publication in Muslim print media of Punjab. This perturbed the Dogra sarakar and the import of these papers in the state was banned.

From 1878, Shias and Sunnis in Doshipura have continuously fought — both on the streets and in the courts — over access to eight plots of land and two graves within it. The fight continues despite a 1981 SC judgment, which gave Shias complete worship rights and asked Sunnis not to trespass.

 Munshi Mohammad Ishaq, a Shia leader was a prominent figure of the historic Plebiscite Movement. And during the armed uprising in Kashmir in the late 80’s the Shia community also had a militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mominoon (the party of the faithful). Many of this group’s ‘boys’ were either killed or arrested.

A scholar from the Shia community Ibne Muhammad (name changed) says, “The Shia community is a strong stake holder in Kashmir and we have been participating fully in the political struggle of Kashmir throughout its history.” Talking about the diversity of political thought within the community he says, “You can find a Shia presence across the political spectrum of Kashmir. There is a Shia leader in every major separatist and mainstream political party here.”

Unlike most other parts of India, Kargil already feels Islamic: Women, almost without exception, wear head coverings; liquor is only available under the table; and there is no movie theater.
As for the Kashmiri separatists, Mr. Karbilaie adds, "We support them in every way," although he declines to say whether his group backs their militancy.
The presence of the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust in Kargil has created some local problems. A rival and more established Shia group says the trust's leader has used a doctrinal difference to split the Shia community, occasionally leading to near violent confrontations.
"When the name of Iran and of Imam Khomeini is used," complains Mohammad Hussein Muqadas, president of the Islamia Seminary, "the people are mesmerized. They don't know who to believe."
The Trust is also exercising political power, and Mr. Karbilaie proudly notes that his organization's support has helped three politicians, including one member of India's parliament, win their seats.
The senior Indian military officer in Kargil says Iran may be promoting its version of Shia Islam in South Asia as a counterweight against Pakistan, where most people follow the faith's Sunni strain. He dismisses the suggestion that India may be looking the other way, pleased to see increasing numbers of Muslims who might one day differ from Pakistan.
"It's a truly democratic society," he says of India. Regarding the rising Shia influence in Kargil, he adds: "How do you stop it?"

On 28th April sectarian violence broke out between Sunnis and Shias in Lucknow in which two persons were killed. Lucknow is the only place in India which has history of Shia-Sunni sectarian violence in India. The Shias insist on taking out processions invoking curses on three first Caliphs in Islam and companions of the Prophet and Sunni Muslims who highly revere them object to such processions pronouncing curses on the first three Caliphs. Interestingly during Muharram i.e. 27th April two persons were killed in political rivalry when a tazia procession taken out by Trinamul Congress was attacked by the processionists of the tazia julus. The Trinamul processionists also counter attacked and pitched battles were fought between the two with bows, arrows and swords. The names of those killed were Habib Khan and Murshid Ali.
On 30th April communal violence broke out in Rai Bareli district in Paharganj town on the question of a disputed religious place. In these disturbances two persons including one small girl were killed and 20 others were injured in incidents of stoning, burning and firing. Some people were also injured during the tazia procession of Muharram. Muharram, like some other festivals, like Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi etc. is a festival on which communal violence often breaks out.
According to Qaumi Awaz riots broke out on 27th April in Shahabad tehsil of Rampur district in U.P. on the occasion of tazia procession. Fifty one shops were looted and set on fire and 3 persons were injured seriously one of whom Aslam, succumbed to his injuries later in Sanjay Gandhi Medical College, Lucknow. The State president of Indian Union Muslim League Syed Shakil Miyan, however, alleged that it was not a Hindu-Muslim riot but rather it was looting and terrorising of some goondas with the connivance of the police of which it had prior knowledge. He alleged that it was for this reason that the police remained mute spectators when looting and burning incidents were taking place. Shakil Miyan also said that he was told by Hindus and Muslims that despite such widespread looting the Hindus and Muslims remained attached to each other and shared each others sufferings.

29 June 2005:  Striking a discordant note on Darul Uloom's edict in Imrana rape case, the all India Shia Personal Law Board today said if a man rapes his daughter-in -law, the victim cannot become the mother of the husband. "If a man rapes his daughter-in-law, the victim cannot become the mother of her husband as she is not the wife of the perpetrator of the crime," an AISPLB spokesman said.  
He said Imrana should be allowed to live with her husband and harsh punishment should be handed over to the rapist.  The Quran provided for punishment by stoning to death for those raping a married woman, the AISPLB said.  
The all India Women Muslim Personal Law Board (AIWMPLB) also denounced the Deoband edict and said it could not be justified in the light of the Shariat.  In a statement here, chairperson of the board said the tenets of Islam have been "misinterpreted" by Darul Uloom and AIMPLB and injustice has been done to the victim.

Her high profile has caught the attention of religious leaders and Haseeb-ul-hasan Siddiqui, a leading cleric with the Sunni Ulema Board, has issued the fatwa because of her "indecent dressing" on the court and in advertisements.
"The dress she wears on the tennis courts not only doesn't cover large parts of her body but leaves nothing to the imagination," he said.

The Sunni Ulema Board says it is worried about her influence. "She will undoubtedly be a corrupting influence on these young women, which we want to prevent," Mr Siddiqui said.
The board recommended that she follow the example of Iranian women who wore long tunics and headscarves to play in the Asian badminton championship in Hyderabad this week.

Varanasi, Sep 10 (PTI) The All-India Shia Muslim Personal Law Board today disapproved the edict issued by some Muslim clerics on dresses worn by Indian teenage tennis sensation Sania Mirza while playing and asked them not to meddle in sports arena.
"The fatwa issued against Sania by a section of Muslim clerics is unnecessary and uncalled for. It is not for them to issue guidelines on what players should wear during matches," Board Chairman Mirza Mohammad Athar told reporters here.
Asserting that Sania had committed no sin by wearing her choice of dresses on field, he asked clerics not to interfere in matters pertaining to sports.

In Lucknow, the rift on Iran is quite visible between Kalbe Jawad and Agha Roohi Abaqati.

Though Roohi refrained from commenting on India’s vote at IAEA, his ideological hostility to Tehran was visible at his sermon on Sunday when he assailed Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khameine for advising the Shia community to avoid reading ‘Hadise Kisa’ (prayer), which the community had been reciting for centuries for peace and protection.

The issue provided fodder to Roohi to attack the Iranian leadership. 
Surprisingly, clerics connected with the All India Shia Personal Law (AISPLB), headed by Maulana Mirza Mohammad Athar, have maintained a stoic silence on the Iran nuclear issue. The reason is not far to seek. The board leaders have long been trying to cultivate the Congress.

Jawad had, in the past, assailed them for toeing the US line. A delegation of the AISPLB, led by Athar, had a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in November 2005.

Terming it a "visionary and a progressive" move, Board secretary Zaheer Abbas Rizvi said the wife would have the right to seek divorce if she is cheated and barred from her rights to education and improving her life. Women can use the nikahnama against men who get married by providing false and misleading information. 

They can also seek divorce if the groom disappears for two years, if he does not inquire about the wife for months together, does not fulfil her essential needs, or uses physical force or forces her to have sexual relations with other men. 

The wife, however, cannot indulge in "wasteful expenditure" that lands her husband in debt, and must approach arbitrators mentioned in the document for seeking divorce and not directly approach a court.

30 Dec 2006: The All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) on Saturday took a rather strong stand on the execution of former Iraq president Saddam Hussein. Terming Saddam's execution as "justified", the AISPLB added that Saddam was tried by a court of justice and punished for his heinous crimes. "Saddam should not be seen as a Muslim as he was not following true Islam," the president of AISPLB's Mumbai chapter, Sayed Mohammed Nawab, said in an official release. Nawab said that Saddam was a tyrant and many other tyrants in Islamic history are prostrated by "Saddami Muslims" who destroyed cities and killed millions of people whom they called kafirs, (unbelievers). These people had imposed their own kind of terrorist Islam, he added. "These are the kind of Muslims behind Saddam, praising his inhuman acts," Nawab said.

The author of the Rs 5 lakh reward offer on her head, president of All India Ibtehad Council, Taqi Raza Khan, however, insisted he had community support.

"There have been a number of e-mails and telephone calls congratulating me for the bold stance I have taken," he said.

"This is 21st century India and not some kind of mediaeval kingdom," says Yasoob Abbas, general secretary of All India Shia Personal Law Board.

"At most, the lady needs to be boycotted and driven out of India. But sar qalam karna (beheading her) is really taking things too far. We are tolerant and peace loving. Taslima needs to be ignored."

Noted Lucknow cleric, Maulan Khalid Rasheed Firangimahali, would also like to see the back of Nasreen. "She has been consistently vicious in her attack on the Prophet and must be restrained."

But he too balked at the idea of inviting someone to kill her. "Beheading someone is not something that falls under the purview of personal law and therefore ulema must steer clear of such announcements," he added.

"There is no doubt that Nasreen's writings have been blasphemous towards not only Islam but also towards the Prophet. We should stick to only lawful means to register our protest against her," said Maulana Khalid Rasheed, the head of Lucknow's oldest Islamic seminary Firangi Mahal.

Members of a Muslim political party assaulted Nasreen Thursday at a book release function in Hyderabad, evoking sharp condemnations from the Muslim community in the country. Journalists and activists saved the writer from serious injuries.

Rasheed, who once was the head priest of Lucknow Eidgah, had prevented Nasreen's visit to Lucknow about three months back when she was invited to address a gathering at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here.

Firebrand Shia cleric and scholar Maulana Qalbe Jawaad too disapproved of the attack on Nasreen but demanded her ouster from the country.

"If the attack on her is unlawful, then even the official patronage extended to her by our government is unconstitutional," Jawaad said. "After all, the secular Indian constitution not only disallows disrespect to any religion but also makes blasphemous references to any religion punishable."

Denouncing the call by the Hyderabad attackers to behead the controversial author, Jawaad said: "Muslims must exercise restraint and not violate the law of the land while lodging protests against her."

17 June 2008: In an unprecedented mobilization of Muslims of various sects and schools of thoughts in Hyderabad against the Ahmadiya (Qadiani) community, the latter was stopped from holding its congregation in the city. As thousands of Muslims tried to march and lay a siege around the venue of their proposed meeting in a state owned building, the state government cancelled the permission on "technical grounds".

Not leaving the matter there, several Muslim organizations have also filed a caveat in the Andhra Pradesh High Court against granting any permission to Qadianis for conducting any public meeting or function in the state "in the name of Muslims or Islam".

Muzaffar Hussain Khan, who filed the caveat on behalf of reputed seminary Jamia Nizamia, and several organizations including Jamat-e-Islami, Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan, Jamiatul Ulema, Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, Anjuman Mehdvia, Anjuman Quadria and Shia Asna-e-Ashari, said that such a move was necessary to make it clear to the court that Ahmadia community was not Muslim and it should not be allowed to carry out pubic activities in the name of Muslims and Islam."

کلب جواد نے علی علیہ السلام کے قول کو یاد دلاتے ہوئے کہا حضرت علی علیہ السلام نے کہا تھا کہ یہ یہودی جو اس وقت در بدر پھر رہے ہیں ان کی حکومت قائم ہو گی اور مسلمان حکمران ان سے ٹکرا ٹکرا کر شکست کھاتے رہیں گے اور جب سارے مسلمان متحد ہو کر ان کے خلاف حملہ کریں گے تب یہ فنا ہو جائیں گے ۔

انہوں نےکہا : پیشن گوئی بتا رہی ہے کہ جب تک سارے مسلمان متحد نہیں ہونگے اس وقت تک اسرائیل کا وجود ختم نہیں ہوگا لہذا اگر اسرائیل کا وجود ختم کرنا ہے تو سارے مسلمانوں کو متحد ہونا ہوگا یہ بات مسلمانوں کو نہیں معلوم مگر یہودیوں کو معلوم ہے کیونکہ اسرائیل ہی کی کوشش ہے کہ مسلمان متحد نہ ہونے پائیں ۔

ھندوستان کے مذھبی شہر لکھنوکی تاریخی مسجد آصفی میں نماز جمعہ کے بعد سلمان رشدی کی ہندوستان آمد پر ناراض مسلمانوں نے شدید مظاہرہ کیا اور سلمان رشدی کا پتلہ نظر آتش کیا اس مظاہرے میں شامل لوگوں نے  مرکزی حکومت مخالف نعرے بازی کرتے ہوئے سلمان رشدی ، امریکہ اور اسرائیل مرداآباد کے نارے لگاتے ہوئے احتجاج کیا

کل ہند مجلس علاء و پاسداران حسین کے مشترکہ زیر اہتمام اس مظاہرے کی قیادت لکھنؤ کے امام جمعہ مولانا سید کلب جواد نقوی نے کی ۔

نماز جمعہ کے اختمام پر ہوئے اس مظاہرہ میں بڑی تعداد میں لوگ شامل ہوئے اور سلمان رشدی اور مرکزی حکومت ، امریکہ و اسرائیل مخالف نعرے بازی کرتے ہوئے پتلہ نذر آتش کیا۔

پتلہ نذرآتش کرنے کے بعد مظاہرین کو خطاب کرتے ہوئے مولانا سید کلب جواد نے کہا کہ سلمان رشدی اہانت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و آلہ وسلم پرمبنی ناول کا مصنف ہے وہ مسلمانوں کے مذہبی جذبات کو بھڑکانے کا قصوروار ہے ایسے شخص کو ہندوستان آنے کی اجازت نہیں دینا چاہئے تھی۔

کلب جواد نے ھندوستان کے حکومت کی اجازت دینے پر سوال کرتے ہوئے کہا : بغیر کانگریسی حکومت کی اجازت کے رشدی ہندوستان کیسے آسکتا ہے۔

خطیب جمعہ نے کہا : آنجہانی راجیوگاندھی کے دور میں سلمان رشدی کے ہندوستان آمد پر پابندی عائد تھی لیکن ان کی بیوہ سونیا گاندھی نے سلمان رشدی کو ہندوستان آنے کی اجازت دے کر ملک کے کروڑوں مسلمان کے جذبات کو ٹھیس پہونچائی ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا : مسلمانوں کو صرف ووٹ بینک ہی نہ سمجھا جائے بلکہ ان کے مذہبی عقائد و جذبات کا احترام کر تے ہوئے کسی بھی ایسے شخص کو ہندوستان آنے کی اجازت نہیں دینا چاہئے۔

مولانا کلب جواد نے ایک انگریزی اخبار میں مذہبی رہنما آیت اللہ خامنہ ای کے بارے میں قابل اعتراض شائع خبروں پر احتجاج کرتے ہوئے کہا : اس انگریزی اخبار کے سربراہ اپنے کئے ہوئے غیر اخلاقی حرکت پر نادم ہوں اور آیت اللہ خامنہ ای سمیت تمام مسلمانوں سے معافی مانگیں ۔

شیعہ قوم وہ قوم ہے جو اپنی ہر محفل کا آغاز حدیث کساءسے کرتی ہے جسمیں اہلیبت کا تعارف کسی مردکی معرفت نہ کرا کر جگر گوشہ رسول حضرت فاطمہ زہرا سلام اﷲ علیہاکے تعلق سے کرایا گیا ہے اور یہ کہہ کر کہ ” ہم فاطمہ و ابوہا و بعلہا و بنوہا“ یہ بتا دیا گیا ہے کہ مرکز سفینہ  نجات خاتون جنت کی شخصیت ہے۔

  یہ کہنا انتہا ئی درجہ افسوسناک ہے کہ ایران، ایران ہے اور ہندوستان ایران نہیں ہے۔ کیا ایسا کہنے والا یہ کہنا چاہتا ہے کہ خدا نخواستہ ہندوستان کی عورتیں دوسرے ممالک کی اپنی بہنوں کی بہ نسبت صلاحیت، عزم یا عفت میں کم تر ہیں؟

پر لطف بات تو یہ ہے کہ یہ بیان کہ عورت کا کام قیادت کرنا نہیں ہے ایک ایسا شخص دے رہا ہے جو کچھ ہی دنوں قبل پریس میں چھپی تصویروں میں صو بہ کی محترم خاتون قائد کے حضور ننگے پاوں دست بستہ گردن جھکائے کھڑا دکھائی دے رہا تھا۔

Had Urdu poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi been alive, he might have been happy to know that Sultan-ul-Madaris, Lucknow's seminary from which he was expelled in the 1930s for 'indiscipline', has been shaken up by three bold women.
Claiming to have exposed a talaq racket running from inside the madrasa, the women on Tuesday thrashed three maulvis with slippers for their alleged involvement in issuing fraud divorce certificates or talaqnamas for money.

Wiser after the incident that was caught live on television cameras, the seminary has decided to undertake an overall scrutiny of all talaqnamas issued by the Shariat court of the institute in the last 10 years. An internal probe will be started and the maulvis punished if found guilty, Maulana Ishtaq Rizvi, a senior seminary member, said.

Community leaders believe that the fraud certificates were sold for a long time.

Nishat Fatima (24), Arshi Abdi (27) and Hina Khatun (32), all belonging to the Shia sect of Islam, beat up Maulana Musa, Maulana Asgar and Maulana Sadiq. Nishat and Arshi are sisters and the two and Hina had married three brothers.

In Lucknow, three Shia women beat up clerics who granted instant talaq to their husbands for a price. The victims are now fighting back, literally.


Naeesh agrees that it's time for change. "Women, whether Shia or Sunni, have become victims of male whims. Among Sunnis, the man can end the relationship by pronouncing talaq three times. In the Shia sect, which makes serving three notices or the wife's presence mandatory in the proceedings, the talaqnama has turned out to be quite a money spinner for unscrupulous ulema."

30 August 2010: Strongly criticising the inclusion of the Qadiani sect founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani in the 19th century in the syllabus of Social Science text book of the UP, all the ulema of various schools of thought, have unanimously demanded its exclusion from the syllabus immediately.

The founder of Darul Qalam, Maulana Yasin Akhtar Misbahi said the Muslims of the entire world had rejected the Qadiani sect and a fatwa was in effect against them and therefore, it was intolerable to include them in Muslims or in a book.
...Renowned Shia scholar and the member of the All India Personal Law Board Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad clearly said, “The Islamic world has declared the Ahmadiyyas as non-Muslims and apostates. How then can we tolerate their inclusion in the Muslim community or in the syllabus?” He asked. He said that including them in the syllabus would mean misleading our new generation. “We, therefore, request the UP government to immediately remove this sect from the syllabus”, he said.

Maulana Tauqueer Raza Khan said, “In fact such problems are created to divert Muslims’ attention from their own problems. Such acts are committed to deprive us of our peace of mind. We do not expect Mayawati government to protect Muslims’ interests. But at least as citizens of a democratic country, we will ask the UP government to remove the essay immediately otherwise it should be ready to face the consequences because if it is not done, we shall launch a nationwide movement.”
 
General Secretary Tanzeem Abna-e-Sharfia, Mubarakpur, UP, Maulana Mubarak Hussain Misbahi reacted strongly saying this was an extremely wrong step taken by the UP government and the essay should be removed immediately.

امام جمعہ لکھنو نے آیة اللہ العظمی خمینی (رہ ) کے حوالہ سے کہا: اسرائیل کا وجود اتنا ہے کہ اگر سارے مسلمان ملکر ایک ایک بالٹی پانی ڈال دیں تو اسرائیل بہہ جائے گا اور اسکا وجود ختم ہو جائے گا۔

مولانا کلب جواد نے مولائے کائنات حضرت علی علیہ السلام کے قول کے ائینے میں کہا : رسول (ص) نے ارشاد ہے کہ آخری زمانہ میں یہودیوں کی حکومت قائم ہوگی اور مسلمان حکمراں اس سے ٹکرا ٹکرا کر شکست کھاتے رہیں گے اور جب سارے مسلمان متحد ہوکر یہودیوں سے جنگ کریں گے تو فتح حاصل ہوگی ۔
مولانا نے مزید کہا : یہ بات مسلمانوں سے زیادہ صھیونیت کو معلوم ہے اسی لئے یہودی مسلمانوں میں آپس میں اتحاد قائم نہیں ہونے دیتے اورمسلمانوں کو آپس میں لڑواتے رہتے ہیں ۔ 

امام جمعہ لکھنو نے اسرائیل کے مظالم کی مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا : ھم ہندوستان کی مرکزی حکومت سے اپیل کرتے ہیں کہ وہ اپنے سفارتی ذرائع کے ذریعہ ہمارے جذبات اور احساسات کواسرائیل تک پہونچائے اور اسرائیل کے ظلم وتشد د اور بربریت پر قدغن لگانے کے لئے ضروری اقدامات کو ممکن بنائے ۔

2 Oct 2010: Announcing a donation of Rs.15 lakh for starting the construction of the much-debated temple at Ayodhya, a Shia youth organisation here says it opposes with any move to appeal against the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ayodhya dispute.
"We will make a formal request to the Sunni Central Waqf Board not to go into appeal against the high court verdict. and to bring an end to the long pending dispute once and for all," Shia Hussaini Tigers chief Shamil Shamsi told reporters here Saturday.

Community leaders had earlier been miffed with lawyer Abbas Kazmi for removing his shirt for a Salman Khan act on the show and asked him to resign as managing trustee of the Imamia Masjid.
On Wednesday's wedding ritual, Dr Rahi Qamar, member of Jamait-e-Ulema, said: "We condemn this act of mockery. We have sent legal notices to the channel asking them to apologise to the community as they have hurt our sentiments. Both contestants should be removed from the show at once. We don't intend to take this lightly."


Some religious representatives have even gone on to say that this second ceremony nullifies the first marriage, allegedly solemnised two years ago. Maulana Zaheer Abbas Rizvi, general secretary of the Shia Law board, said, "According to Muslim law, both marriages become null and void if the same people get married twice. Islamic rules say a woman separated from her husband should marry someone else, consummate the second marriage and then get divorced before remarrying her first husband. The Muslim law body, which has the authority to pass fatwas, should take action against those involved with this show." Maulana Gulzaar Azmi, secretary of the Jamait-e-Ulema council, agreed that the second marriage had invalidated the alleged first. "Muslim law does not permit it at all," he said.

12 April 2011: India's political-religious party commemorated centenary of excommunication fatwa with an estimated number of 1.5 MM Shia Sunni participants.

Head of Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam, India's supporter of Muslim unity, Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Ludhianvi said the first centenary of Qadiyanit fatwa is commemorated to strengthen the allegiance with fatwa issued by Maulana Shah Muhammad Ludhianvi in 1911.
 
Almost 1 million of the participants were estimated to be from Punjab and the rest from other Indian states where Shia and Sunni scholars highlighted Muslim unity.

Maulana Shah Muhammad Ludhianvi in 1911 issued a decree against Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadian who was announced to be the promised savior of Islam.

A Delhi court has validated divorce given by a Shia Muslim, Sabir Hussain, to his wife Mumtaz through another man appointed by him as his agent to pronounce the word ‘talaq’ in Arabic as he could not speak that language. Additional District Judge Reetesh Singh said Hussain has duly proved that he had obtained divorce from Mumtaz as prescribed under Shia Muslim Law.

It is held under Shia Muslim law that if a husband isn’t conversant with Arabic he can engage/hire an agent to pronounce ‘talaq’ on his behalf in the presence of two witnesses. Mumtaz had contended that to secure divorce under Shia Muslim Law ‘talaq’ should be pronounced only in Arabic, and that by the husband himself. Hussain was married to Mumtaz in 1992. They have two sons and a daughter.

جمعیۃ علماء ہند کے صدر مولانا سید ارشد مدنی ان دنوں غیر ملکی سفر پر ہیں تاہم انھوں نے روزنامہ صحافت سے فون پر بات کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پہلی بات تو یہ ہے کہ قادیانیوں کے پروگرام میں نائب صدر جمہوریہ حامد انصاری نہیں جارہے ہیں۔
 
انھوں نے جمعیۃ علماء ہند سے بات کرتے ہوئے وہاں جانے سے صاف منع کردیا ہے۔ دوسری بات یہ ہے کہ ہندوستان ایک آزاد ملک ہے۔ یہاں ہر مذہب کے لوگوں کو اپنی بات کرنے کی پوری آزادی ہے لہٰذا قادیانی بھی اپنی بات کرسکتے ہیں لیکن ہمارا کہنا یہ ہے کہ پہلے وہ صاف طور پر اعلان کریں کہ وہ مسلمان نہیں ہیں

 امام بخاری نے کہا کہ قادیانیوں کی قرآن مجید پر لگائی جانے والی نمائش کا ہی نہیں بلکہ جو لوگ اس پروگرام میں شرکت کرنے کے لئے جارہے ہیں ان کا بھی بائیکاٹ ہونا چاہئے۔ قادیانی لوگ اسلام سے خارج کئے گئے لوگ ہیں اس لئے ان کے پروگرام میں جانا مناسب نہیں ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ امریکہ اور اسرائیل مسلمانوں کے خلاف قادیانیت کو فروغ دے رہی ہے اور حکومت ہند جو امریکہ اور اسرائیل نواز ہوگئی ہے اس کام میں مدد کر رہی ہے جس کی مذمت ہونی چاہئے ۔
 
معروف شیعہ عالم دین مولانا قلب جواد نے صحافت سے فون پر بات کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ قادیانیت کی اس حرکت کی پر زور مذمت ہونی چاہئے کہ وہ بحیثیت مسلمان قرآن مجید کی نمائش کر رہی ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ یہ امریکہ اور اسرائیل کی سازش ہے۔ اس لئے سب سے پہلے ان اسلام دشمن ممالک کی مخالفت ہونی چاہئے ۔ 

انھوں نے کہا کہ دہلی کے کانسٹی ٹیوشن کلب میں قادیانیوں کا پروگرام ہورہا ہے جس کا مطلب ہے کہ ہندوستان میں اسرائیلی اثرات کافی بڑھے ہیں۔ امریکہ اور اسرائیل کی پالیسی ہماری حکومت کام کررہی ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ قادیانیوں کی اس تقریب کا مکمل طور پر بائیکاٹ ہونا چاہئے اور جو مسلم ممبران پارلیمنٹ اس میں شرکت کرتے ہیں ان کی مذمت ہونی چاہئے۔

جماعت اسلامی ہند کے امیر جماعت مولانا جلال الدین عمری نے بھی قادیانیوں کے اس پروگرام کی سخت مذمت کی ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ مسلمانوں کو چاہئے کہ وہ اس کا پوری طرح سے بائیکاٹ کریں۔

ملی گزٹ کے ایڈیٹر ڈاکٹر ظفر الاسلام نے کہا کہ بحیثیت مسلمان قادیانیت کو پیش کرنے والوں کے خلاف احتجاج ہونا چاہئے اور اس کی مذمت کرنی چاہئے۔

فتح پوری مسجد کے شاہی امام مفتی مکرم احمد [نقشبندی مجددی -بریلوی ]  نے بھی اس کی مذمت کی ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ یہ سن کر افسوس ہوا کہ قادیانیوں کے پروگرام میں مسلم ممبران پارلیمنٹ کریں گے، انھیں ہرگز اس میں شریک نہیں ہونا چاہئے کیونکہ قادیانیوں کا اسلام سے کوئی لینا دینا نہیں ہے۔

مسلم پرسنل لاء بورڈ کے نائب صدر نے ریڈیو تہران کو انٹرویو دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہندوستانی مسلمانوں کو چاہئے کہ وہ حکومت سے امیدیں وابستہ کرنے اور کاسہ گدائی لینے کے بجائے عزم و ہمت سےکام لیں اور اسلامی جمہوریہ ایران اور حزب اللہ لبنان کو اپنے لئے آئیڈیل بنائيں ۔

مسلم پرسنل لاء بورڈ کے نائب صدر نے کہا کہ جس طرح اسلامی جمہوریہ ایران، قرآنی اصولوں پرعمل کرتے ہوئے ترقی کی منزلیں طے کر رہا ہے اور امریکہ جیسی طاقت کو بھی خاطر میں نہيں لاتا اسی طرح اگر ہندوستانی مسلمان قرآنی آیات پر عمل کرتے ہوئےاسلامی جمہوریہ ایران کو اپنا رول ماڈل بنائيں تو بڑے سے بڑے مسائل پر قابو پا سکتے ہيں۔

مولانا کلب صادق نے انتہاپسند ہندو تنظیم راشٹریہ سویم سیوک سنگھ آر ایس ایس کے سابق سربراہ سدرشن سے ملاقات کے بارے میں کہا کہ یہ ملاقات مسٹر سدرشن کی خواہش پر انجام پائي اور اس میں مسلمانوں کے مفاد کے برخلاف نہيں بلکہ ان کے حق میں گفتگو کی گئی ہے۔

جمعیۃ علماء ہند کے صدر مولانا ارشد مدنی نے آج متنازعہ مصنف سلمان رشدی کے ویزا کو منسوخ کرنے کے لئے مرکزی حکومت سے دارالعلوم دیوبند کی اپیل کی حمایت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ رشدی نے ماضی میں مسلمانوں کے جذبات کو ٹھیس پہنچائی ہے ۔

مجلس علماء ہند کے صدر مولانا سید علی تقوی نے گستاخ رسول سلمان رشدی کے ہندوستان آنے کی اطلاع پر تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ حکومت ملسمانوں کے جذبات سے کھلواڑ کرنے سے باز رہے۔ اور سلمان رشدی کا ویزا فوراً رد کرے۔ 

مجلس علماء ہند کے جنرل سیکریٹری مولانا کلب جواد نقوی نے کہا ہے کہ ہندوستان میں ایک بار پھر سلمان رشدی کو دعوت دی گئی ہے تاکہ وہ مسلمانوں کے جذبات کو مجروح کرے۔ انہوں نے سلمان رشدی کو مسلمانوں کے خلاف جاری صیہونی سازشوں کا ایک حصہ قرار دیا ہے۔ حکومت ہند کو تنبیہ کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ سلمان رشدی کا ویزا فوراً رد کیا جائے اگر حکومت ایسا نہیں کرتی ہے تو ہم پارلیمنٹ کا گھیراؤ کریں گے اور ملک کے دیگر حصوں میں سلمان رشدی کے خلاف ہونے والے احتجاج میں شریک ہوکر آواز بلند کرینگے۔ 

مجلس علماء ہند نے کہا کہ گستاخ رسول سلمان رشدی کے خلاف انقلاب اسلامی ایران کے بانی آیت اللہ خمینیؒ کا فتویٰ ابھی موجود ہے جس کی روشنی میں رشدی ایک ملعون اور قابل نفرت کردار کی حیثیت رکھتا ہے ۔ اگر حکومت ہند کی جانب سے رشدی کا ویزا رد نہیں کیا جاتا ہے تو دیگر ملی تنظیموں کے ساتھ ساتھ مجلس علماء بھی احتجاج کا راستہ اختیار کرے گی۔

On February 13, 2012, a car bomb exploded when Tal Yehoshua Koren, wife of the Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Israel, was on her way to collect her children from school. Although she survived, she was injured. Following investigations, four Iranian citizens were suspected to be involved in the attack. A Shia Muslim Indian journalist, Syed Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, has been charged in the case. When he was released on bail on October 21, 2012, he was greeted by a crowd of supporters and was taken home in an open, decorated jeep in a procession of five hundred people in buses and cars carrying posters of Kazmi and raising the slogan “long live Kazmi!”.

مجلس علماء ہند صوبہ گجرات کے سیکریٹری مولانا سید محمد رضا غروی نے مولانا کلب جواد نقوی پر حملہ کی کوشش کو عالمی سطح پر مسلم قیادت کو کمزور کرنے کی سامراجی سازش کا حصہ قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مولانا کلب جواد نقوی ہندوستان و بیرون ہندوستان میں اہم شیعہ قائد کی حیثیت سے پہچانے جاتے ہیں۔ ایسی عظیم شخصیت پر نماز جمعہ کے بعد حملہ پوری قوم پر حملے کے مترادف ہے۔

تقریب نیوز (تنا): انہوں نے کہا کہ آج امریکہ اور اسرائیل سبھی ممالک میں مسلم قیادت کو نشانہ بنا رہے ہیں تاکہ ایران پر حملے کی صورت میں ایران کی حمایت میں اٹھنے والی آواز کو کمزور کر دیا جائے۔

مولانا نے آصفی مسجد میں حملہ کرنے والوں کو صیہونی طاقتوں کا آلہ کار قرار دیا۔

مولانا نے کہا کہ مولانا کلب جواد وحدت اسلامی کے علمبردار کی حیثیت سے خدمات انجام دے رہے ہیں جو کہ سامراجی طاقتوں کے لئے ناقابل برداشت ہے۔ لہٰذا امریکہ و اسرائیل کرائے کے مزدوروں کے ذریعہ اوقاف وغیرہ کو بہانہ بنا کر شخصیت کو مجروح کرنے کی سازش کر رہے ہیں۔ جبکہ تحفظ اوقاف کے لئے مولانا کلب جواد کی بڑی قربانیاں ہیں۔ اس حملہ کا دوسرا پہلو یہ بھی ہے کہ لکھنئو میں آصفی امامباڑہ میں شیعہ مہاسمیلن کی کامیابی کو استعماری طاقتیں بے اثر کرنا چاہتی ہیں۔

انہوں نے حکومت اتر پردیش سے مطالبہ کیا کہ حملہ آوروں کے خلاف سخت کاروائی کی جائے تاکہ مستقبل میں کوئی دوسرا ایسی جرأت نہ کر سکے

10 August 2012: A group of Indian Shia clerics, led by a prominent Shia Islamic leader, Kalbe Jawwad, has demanded breaking ties with Israel. In May Kalbe Jawwad, a cleric and member of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, alleged that there has been a "flood of terror attacks in India" ever since Israel established an embassy there, and accused the Congress Party-led government of India of defaming the Muslim community as a whole.

Earlier on 12 September 2011, hundreds of of Shia Muslims led by Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad had staged protest to stake claim over Free Masonic Temple. Shias claimed it be to a mausoleum of their Imams and presently being illegally occupied by Jews.

As per the claims of the Shia Muslims, the Free Masonic Temple is waqf property registered by the name Waqf Karbala Moatmuddaula with Shia Waqf Board. It was constructed by King Naseeuruddin Haider in 1815. It came under the possession of East India Company in February 1856 and they handed it over to Jews."

On the website of “Supreme Court of Shariet,” Bashir-ud-Din has been soliciting funds from people at large scale for establishing an Islamic University with the name Shah-i-Hamadan University.  He has also sought funding from various governments and institutions for the establishment of the University. In another official letter dispatched from the “Supreme Court of Shariet” on 7 May 2013, addressed to Mohammad Jafari, Secretariat of Islamic Awakening, Iran, he mentions that he had a discussion with the Iranian President about establishment of the Shah-i-Hamadan University. The letter reads, “The President has been pleased to agree to provide all aid and assistance towards the establishment of the Shah-i-Hamadan University for which purpose the requisite project report and other allied documents stands provided by us.”

Bashir-ud-Din also wrote to the Iranian Ambassador to India for the university project. He writes, in the letter sent on 31 May 2013, requesting him to recommend the proposed National University project in Kashmir to the President of Iran for providing financial assistance.  “The documents and the revised project report has been handed over to the President,” read the letter.

Early the next morning, stone-throwing mobs confronted each other in half a dozen villages. In Payrus and in Sahipora, local police have told Firstpost, over a dozen homes and a Shi’a Imambara have been burned down.  Fatima Mir, an elderly woman, is in critical care, battling for her life because of head injuries.

For the first time in years, troops from three battalions of the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles regiment have been out on Badgam’s streets.

The clashes that have led to curfew being imposed across the central Kashmir district of Badgam, bang next to Srinagar, and home to a significant part of the state’s Shi’a minority, aren’t big enough to attract attention in the national media. Everything has a context, though—and it’s the context to the communal violence in Badgam that’s more significant than the rioting itself.

For decades—even centuries—there’s been low-grade sectarian skirmishes in Kashmir, mostly signifying nothing more than the human capacity for violence over petty differences. In recent years, though, these skirmishes have shown a worrying uptick: tension flared up across Badgam in 2011 after a cellphone sex-clip of a Shi’a girl and Sunni boy surfaced, and there was violence between members of the two religious groups in Srinagar’s Hawal area last year.

Kashmir’s Shi’a population have mostly been bystanders to this religious competition—but the rising tide of religiosity is fuelling fears, especially given the regional context. The assassination of National Conference-affiliated Shi’a leader Aga Syed Mehdi in 2000 highlighted the ideological strains: Islamist groups like the Dukhtaran-e- Millat, as also the political outfits like the Islamic Students League and the Muslim League even lashed out at secessionist leaders for attending his last rites.

Kashmir’s Shi’a leadership has long feared the consequences of jihadi terrorism might have for the community: in the 1990s, its leadership even sponsored a militia to cushion against the possibility of an Islamist victory. Elements of the Shi’a community have also drawn ever closer to the state: in 2009, hundreds turned out to mourn Shabbir Malik, a local boy who died alongside other  Indian troops fighting jihadists.

14 Nov 2013: The Shia population in Kashmir lives in small pockets. In the capital citySrinagar they are mostly confined to Dal (Mir Behri), Zadibal and Shalimar areas. Budgam is the only town in theValley where Shias form a majority.

But incidents and events over the past two decades have led to a situation where the Shia community has shrunk into small enclaves, gradually taking the shape of ghettos, a sharp contrast to earlier times when Shias and other Kashmiriminorities were scattered all along the interiors of Srinagar city. “The revival of sectarian based politics in Pakistan and Middle East, and the dramatic resurgence of anti-Shia forces there reinforced the fears of the community,” says Masroor Ansari, son of former Hurriyat president Moulvi Abass Ansari and the current president of Itehadul Muslimeen, a constituent of the moderate separatist amalgam Hurriyat Conference. He further says that fears actually worsened after the entry of foreign armed militants in Kashmir in the late eighties, with some militant groups actively supported by the Pakistani Wahabi organisations, perceived by the Shia community to be influenced by anti-Shia hate propaganda.

"in 2005, Shias broke away from the Sunni dominated All India Personal Law Board, a non-governmental association of Muslims that advises the government on Islamic personal law, because they felt that Sunni interpretations of family law dominated over Shia ones.

A Shia leader in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the city which elected Narendra Modi to Parliament,stated that “traditionally, Shias don’t go where Sunnis go…politically we have seldom been together. So when we saw Sunnis opposing Modi, we decided to back him.” Shias in Varanasi allege that Sunnis opposed the Shia Ta’ziya procession and created a land dispute over an Imambara (hall for the remembrance of Shia Imams). Furthermore, they claim only the BJP supported them in this dispute.

Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh and a bastion of Shia Islam in India, has been an especially fertile city for pro-BJP sentiment among Shia Muslims. Lucknow has a long history of major Sunni-Shia riots, made worse in the past two decades due to the incitement of Sunni scholars in the city aided by the spread of fundamentalism from neighboring Pakistan; Pakistan and India both share the Deobandi movement, a radical interpretation of Sunni Islam similar to Salafism (Wahhabism). This development has made Shia leaders anxious. Lucknow’s Shia leader Maulana Kalbe Jawad all but endorsed the BJP candidate from the city, Rajnath Singh (who won), praising him and comparing him to former BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who also represented Lucknow during his time in the Lok Sabha.

Shia alienation from the Sunni-dominated Islamic world has made individual Shias more likely to throw their lot in with the BJP and adopt a more India-centric approach to politics, rather than an approach that focuses on the global Muslim community. The Imambara administration has accepted the two-year-old demand of the local Shia community to implement a dress code for women entering the religious site, built in the late 18th century by Asaf-ud-Daula, Nawab of Lucknow.
The demand was formalised into a rule by the secretary of the Hussainabad Trust, ADM west, H.P. Shahi, after renewed calls by the influential Shia cleric, Kalbe Jawad. Supporters of the Shia cleric had been on a protest dharna at the site for the last five days. Mr. Shahi said the decision was based on the consideration that the Imambara was “a religious site, highly revered by the Shias.”
While only those women with their heads covered will be allowed on the premises of the Chota Imambara and the Bara Imambara, others can acquire dupattas from a counter before entering the premises.

19 June 2014: Some 5,000 Indian Shia Muslims have vowed to fight Sunni militants in Iraq. Members of Anjuman Haidari, Majlis Ulama-e-Hind and Hussaini Tigers, who held a recruiting camp at Jantar Mantar, however, said the volunteers will defend the sacred Shia shrines in the Southern Iraqi cities of Karbala, Najaf, Kadhimiya and Samarra.

Nair Ali Naqvi, an office bearer of the Delhi-based Anjuman Haidari, said they have patronage of leading Lucknow-based Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe-e-Javed, who supported home minister Rajnath Singh in the elections. Naqvi told dna that so far recruits from Hyderabad, J&K, Lucknow and even from Kolkata have registered themselves. He refused to call them "fighters", but "volunteers" out to protect their shrines against terrorists.

Officials at the Iraqi embassy said they didn't favour the idea of recruiting people to fight in Iraq. "The Iraqi government has issued appeals for help from governments, but will not encourage individuals and non-government groups to come to Iraq for fighting," said an official.

The clerics said that the author had caused law and order problems and that her writings had hurt millions of Muslims. Imam of Tipu Sultan mosque, Maulana Noor-Ur-Rehman Barkari, who had previously issued a fatwa against Nasreen, said the move was a positive one.

“The army had to be summoned on Kolkata streets because of her. She should not be allowed to stay anywhere in the country,” said Barkati.

Imam of Cossipore Mosque, Maulana Syed Athar Abbas Rizvi said, “We have been keeping Taslima Nasreen in our country when Bangladesh has driven her out. She is a threat to peace and tranquillity in the country.”

Activist Saeed Khan has closely observed the increasing levels of noise from loudspeakers atop mosque minarets. He says the Saboo Siddique Hospital in Dongri is a classic example. Situated between Masjid-e-Iranian or Mughal Mosque (a Shia place of worship) and a Sunni Masjid, Saboo Siddique Hospital and a nearby municipal school (both fall in the silence zone) have to endure the long, high-decibel azaans every day. "Normally an azaan should last two to three minutes, but here the muezzins at both the mosques give azaans which last longer. It is competitive religiosity and both groups try to outdo one another in proving their respective superiority," says Khan. ...


Khan complains that at many Sunni mosques the practice of reciting "salam" (devotional verses in praise of the Prophet) after the fajr (morning) prayer causes "pain" to many people.

MUMBAI: Abidali Lakhani is caught in a quandary. A member of the Khoja Shia Asna Ashari Jamaat, a branch of Shia Islam, 77-year-old Lakhani wants to donate his body after death but is finding stiff resistance from his family and the top Shia clerics.

Undeterred, Lakhani took matters in his hand and started approaching senior Shia clerics. When the maulanas (religious scholars) in Mumbai "disappointed" him with their refusals, Lakhani wrote to Ayatollah Ali Sistani, Najaf (Iraq)-based top Shia cleric who commands immense respect among Shias across the world. "Can I donate my body after my death?" asked Lakhani. Sistani, who grabbed global headlines recently after he sent a letter to Iraq's embattled Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's Dawa party against his re-nomination as PM, sent a one-line reply. In Persian it reads: Wasiyat e mazkoor mahalle ishkaal ast (the above-mentioned will is erroneous).

Leading clerics, both Shias and Sunnis, with the exception of Delhi-based Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, are against organ donation or donation of the body by a Muslim. "Islam demands respect to a dead body. Certain organs can be donated, but not the whole body as every departed Muslim must get a namaaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) and a burial," says Mumbai-based senior Shia cleric and principal of a Shia religious school Maulana Ahmed Ali Abidi.

Maulana Roohe Zafar, another Shia cleric, refers to a book by Ayatollah Sistani and underlines that a Muslim can donate a part of his/her body only to another Muslim if the recipient's life can be saved with that donated part. "In no circumstances can a Muslim donate his entire body, whether before or after death," declares Benares-based top cleric Mufti Abdul Batin Noamani. "Our belief is that every dead Muslim will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement in the same condition as on the day of his death. That's why there is so much emphasis on respect to the dead," explains Noamani.

19 August 2014: After Iran, India has the highest number of Shias. In UP, they are largely concentrated in Lucknow and Rampur. In Lucknow, Muslims account for 29 percent of the population; of these more than 20 percent are Shias. They are largely confined to the old city area, represented by Lucknow North Assembly constituency, which has always been won by the BJP.

Incidentally, the electoral preferences of the Shias and Sunnis have never been the same, at least in Uttar Pradesh. Shia community elders concede that because of historical reasons, Shias do not follow what Sunnis seem to be doing. "We are more comfortable with Hindus in that case," a retired principal said. "The victory of the BJP in Lucknow and even the victory of Modi in Varanasi was because of the Shia support to the BJP," he said.

Traditional religious disputes between the two sects have mainly pertained to route of processions during Moharram or possession of property. With several Shia shrines and structures dotting the old city, Lucknow has had a history of Shia-Sunni riots. Since the Shias have always nursed a fear of being swamped by the majority Sunni and their sway over the administration, they have allied with the BJP and Hindus to at least have some sizable numbers on their sides.

"It has been like this since the sixties, when clashes during Moharram had become very frequent, and it is since then the Jan Sangh and later, the BJP, always won from the old Lucknow constituency,” said S Jaffri, a businessman in old Lucknow.

The fear of the Shias to be swamped by Sunnis made them move closer to Hindus. Even during the Lok Sabha election campaign, as soon as the Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid endorsed Congress after meeting Sonia Gandhi, in Lucknow Kalbe Jawwad had a meeting Rajnath Singh who was the BJP candidate from Lucknow. He later compared him to former BJP Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

24 Nov 2014:  As the battle for the Taj Mahal continues between Shia and Sunni sect leaders, a section of Shia leaders have upped the ante. 

The group have strongly opposed Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan’s recent demand that the 17th-century monument be handed over to the Central Sunni Waqf Board in the state. 

Syed Faiyyaz Haidar, president of the Lucknow-based Imam-e-Raza Committee, said: “Taj Mahal should be given to us. Mumtaz was a Shia whose real name was Arjuman Bano. Taj’s architecture evidences its Shia connection. There is a water tank near the mosque, which is located on the west side of the mausoleum. We all know that Shias perform ablution from the water tanks before offering prayer. The hall on the east side was for self-flagellation during Muharram,” he said.

Bombay high court on Friday said it will allow only lawyers during the hearing of a public interest litigation for ban on use of children for matam (mourning) during Muharram. 

A division bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice Anuja Prabhudessai passed the oral direction after Shias came to court in large numbers to oppose grant of any relief to the PIL. 

Police were called in as a precautionary measure.

The PIL has been filed by Faisal Banarasiwalla and Abdul Qureshi "to save children and even adults'' from injuries by sharp weapons, blades, knives and swords in the name of matam ( mourning) during the 40 days which began on October 25 and ends on December 14. 

The petition said during matam "an infant's forehead is cut with a sharp weapon '' and bled and in some places "they are made to walk on burning coals."

21 April 2015: The All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) on Monday expressed its unhappiness over “repeated interference” by courts in Muslim personal law and demanded that there should be “a law for minimum interference in the issues of Indian minorities”.  Speaking about the April 6 Supreme Court order in the Shamima Farooqui versus Shahid Khan case, where the apex court had reiterated that a Muslim woman is entitled to maintenance by her former husband till she remarries, AISPLB president Maulana Mirza Mohammad Athar said while they agree with the judgment, there should also be a law to ensure minimum interference in minorities’ issues.

“We had passed a ‘nikahnama’ at our 2007 meet in Mumbai where clause number 17 read that a husband will continue to provide maintenance to his former wife, even after the iddat period, until she finds a means to support herself. We have been careful in our wording, saying that that it should be implemented in view of humanitarian grounds and not religious grounds,” said Mirza.

شیعہ وقف بورڈ کی جاری کی گئی لسٹ پر اعتراض جتاتے ہوئے مجلس علماء ہند کے جنرل سکریٹری و امام جمعہ مولانا سید کلب جواد نقوی نے کہا کہ لسٹ میں جنکے نام آئے ہیں وہ زیادہ قابل اعتماد نہیں ہیں، حکومت ایسے ہی لوگوں کو وقف میں لانا چاہتی ہے جو وقف کی حفاظت و ترقی کے لئے کچھ کام نہ کرسکیں کیونکہ وقف کی جائدادوں پر انہی کے قبضے ہیں اور حکومت نہیں چاہتی کہ وہ لاکھوں کروڑوں روپے کی مالیت کی زمینیں خالی کرے اس لئے ایسے لوگوں کو لایا جاتا ہے جو انکے غلام رہیں۔ ہمیشہ حکومتوں کی یہی پالیسی رہی ہے کہ اوقاف کو تباہ کیا جائے اور مسلمان ہمیشہ انکے غلام بنے رہیں۔ مولانا کلب جواد نے کہا کہ حکومتوں کی سازشوں کی بنیاد پر بنگال، بہار پنجاب اور دوسری ریاستوں کے اوقاف تقریبا ختم ہوچکے ہیں۔ پنجاب میں 500 سے زیادہ شیعہ اوقاف تھے مگر آج ایک بھی نہیں ہے۔

6 June 2015: Maulana Jawad, whos has following in the country and abroad, is general secretary of Majlis-e-Ulama-Hind (MEUH), an all India bodies of Shia Ulamas, and Imam-e-Juma at the Shahi Asafi Mosque in Lucknow. He recently launched Qaumi Vikas Manch to mobilise Shias for mounting pressure on the state and central governments to address problems of the community. He has also given call to Shias to act as a vote bank in elections and vote for only those who promise to address their problems.
"Tourists who visit Imambaras do a lot of anti-Sharia activities in the premises. They don't follow Hijab rules. Recently, liquor bottles were found in Imamabars. I am of the view that if people can follow rules of a particular religion while visiting places of worship like covering head in Golden Temple, why can't it be done in Imambara," said Jawad, who has launched a statewide movement demanding action against those, including Shia Waqf Board chairperson Waseem Rizvi, who have been found prima facie guilty by CBCID of corruption in management of waqf properties in the state. As a mark of protest, his supporters have put lock of Imambaras famous across the world for their architecture.

SRINAGAR:  Three senior separatists today joined the Hurriyat group led by hardline Kashmiri separatist Syed Ali Geelani.

Chairman of separatist Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Shah, National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan and prominent Shia cleric Aga Syed Hassan -- who is also president of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian -- announced that they have joined the Geelani-led Hurriyat group.

The decision was announced at Geelani's uptown Hyderpora residence in Srinagar city at a press conference.

"Today our resistance movement faces a lot of challenges. And we have to face it jointly," Geelani said at the joint press conference.

Shia cleric Hassan, who recently quit the Mirwaiz Umar-led moderate Hurriyat group, said the separatists decided to join Geelani "in the larger interest of the resistance movement".

Senior separatist Shabir Shah said the separatist leaders have a common stand on the Kashmir issue.

Sunni delegation met the SSP D C Dubey and urged him to arrest a Shia strongman identified as Shah Abbas in order to bring peace back in the village.    Khirva village had witnessed unprecedented violence on August 21 when two groups of Shia and Sunni clashed. Close to 50 rounds were fired during the clash that claimed one life. Several people were injured.   The village comprises almost equal population of Shias and Sunnis. A villager who did not wish to be named claimed, "Members of the Shia group are openly moving about in the village, threatening us".   In addition, the villagers also demanded that only one FIR relating to the incident should be registered. On August 21, three FIRs were filed against the Sunni community.

4 Nov 2015: LUCKNOW: Concerned about talks around a common civil code for all religions in India, the All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) on Tuesday claimed such a code will only create riot-like circumstances in the country.


"Such a common civil code if implemented will only create discord in society and pitch people against one another," said Maulana Yasoob Abbas, spokesperson, AISPLB. He also claimed that minorities will further lose trust in government if the code is implemented.

Quoting an incident from Prophet’s life Kalbe Jawad said, “One day during the month of Ramzan (fasting) (Urdu for the Arabic Ramadan) when Prophet was sitting with his followers, a Jew came and offered him a date. The Jewish man insisted that Prophet Muhammad eat it in front of him. On his request, Prophet ate the date, leaving his followers sitting beside him shocked. As the Jew left, Prophet’s fellows asked him, ‘Why did you break your fast before time for that Jew?’ To this, the Prophet replied, ‘I prefer breaking my fast over his heart.’”

“It is from here that the Muslims and Jews should forget their old hostilities,” says Jawad, adding, “The Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, never broke anyone’s heart, be it a Jew or a Christian. The Muslims of today should learn from the life of Prophet and conduct themselves accordingly.” However, on the issue of the Freemason Temple, he says that it is a Jewish conspiracy against Islam, and a legal battle is being fought to wrest control of the building from Jewish hands.

This Muslim version of the dispute is challenged by the caretaker of the Temple Lodge, who outrightly rejected the presence of Jews in the premises of the building. Though initially skeptical of saying anything to me, the caretaker after a long conversation on the issue disclosed that the Masonic Temple has nothing to do with Jews in particular. In fact, it is open for all communities, and the minimum criterion of membership is to be a post-graduate.

Operating out of a municipal school, the Urdu Markaz is just a stone's throw away from two mosques. The Markaz has to halt its programmes (seminars, mushaira, debates, discussions) twice if an event is during azaan time. 11 July 2016: In his Eid sermon, one of the most powerful Muslim leaders in Bengal, Syed Mohammad Nurur Rahman Barkati, criticised the Muslim televangelist for misleading people and suggested a ban on all his preaching materials in India. “Zakir speaks rubbish,” said Barkati, who is the shahi imam of Kolkata’s Tipu Sultan mosque. “He is only amassing huge wealth. Who is funding him? The government should also investigate this.

Clerics from the Barelvi school of Sunni Islam, which gets its name from Bareilly – the town in Uttar Pradesh where it originated from – also accused Naik of delivering anti-Islamic speeches. During his Eid sermon last week, Maulana Asjad Raza Qadri, head cleric of Bareilly, demanded a ban on Naik for his hate speeches, and said that his activities were against Islam and the culture of India.

In the past, Naik has criticised Sufism – the mystical form of Islam that has been present in India for over 1,000 years. The preacher condemned those who revere Sufi saints and visit their tombs as “grave worshippers”....

Condemnation from Shias

Naik has also been criticised by the Shias – the second-largest branch of Islam after Sunni Islam.

Shia clerics in Lucknow have accused the televangelist of propagating ideas that attracted Muslim youth to extremism.

Prominent Shia Muslim cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi demanded a complete ban on Naik’s books, speeches and lectures. “Zakir Naik is spreading terrorism,” he said. “Naik is a part of the Saudi Arabia-funded Wahhabi terror network, which creates scholars and clerics who in turn brainwash young Muslims.”

Another Shia cleric, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, led a demonstration against Naik in Lucknow during which Abbas burned Naik’s effigy and labeled him as anti-national and anti-religious. The protestors at this demonstration carried a banner, which read: “Protest Against Terrorism” and carried the photograph of Zakir Naik along with those of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed.

12 July 2016:  A Shia group that calls itself the Hussaini Tigers has placed a Rs 15-lakh bounty on the head of controversial TV evangelist Zakir Naik.
“He (Naik) is a ‘khalnayak’ (villain). He has insulted the Prophet of Islam and whosoever kills him would be rewarded not only in life [and beyond]...but would also get cash reward from us,” Syed Kalbe Hussain Naqvi, the president of the outfit, said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Naqvi is son of senior vice-president of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board and prominent cleric Syed Kalbe Sadiq.
“Naik is a ‘kafir’ (heathen). He has insulted the Prophet and radical clerics are defending him saying he has no connection with the terrorists,” Naqvi said.

کشمیر پالیسی میں ہو تبدیلی
کلب صادق نے کشمیر مسئلے پر میڈیا سے بات چیت میں کہا، وہاں کے بگڑتے حالات کے لئے ناخواندگی ذمہ دار ہے. کشمیر میں تعلیم پر توجہ نہیں دی جا رہی ہے. اسی وجہ سے وہاں کے شہری بہکاوے میں آ جاتے ہیں. صادق نے پاکستان کو ڈوبتی کشتی قرار دیا. کہا، کشمیریوں کو اس کی سواری سے بچنا چاہئے. مرکزی حکومت کو بھی کشمیر کو لے کر پالیسی میں تبدیلی کرنا چاہئے.

پاک میں طالبان حکومت
پاک حکومت پر نشانہ لگاتے ہوئے کلب صادق بولے، نواز شریف کی حکومت طالبان حکومت جیسی ہے. پاکستان کی طرف سے بھارت کے اندرونی معاملات میں مداخلت کے سوال پر انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم نے ‘پاکستان’ کا نام بدل کر ‘پاپيستان’ کر دیا تھا.

سیاسی جماعتیں صبر رکھیں
یوپی کی سیاسی جماعتوں کی جانب سے ایک دوسرے پر نازیبا تبصرے کے بارے میں پوچھے جانے پر کلب صادق نے افسوس کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ سماج وادی پارٹی ہو، بی جے پی ہو یا بی ایس پی، یہ ہمارے لیڈر ہیں. انہیں گالم گلوچ نہیں کرنا چاہئے.

اور کیا کہا کلب صادق نے؟
-تين طلاق مسئلے پر انہوں نے کہا، علماء کو لوگوں کے دباؤ میں آئے بغیر قرآن کی باتوں کو لوگوں تک پهچاني ہوگی.
– نکاح جتنا آسان ہے، طلاق اتنا ہی مشکل.
-كلب صادق نے کہا کہ ملک کا مسئلہ نہ ہندو ہے اور نہ مسلم.
-ڈاکٹر صادق نے کہا کہ میں کشمیر میں پیلیٹ گن کے استعمال کے سخت خلاف ہوں. انہوں نے کہا، اسرائیل جیسا ظالم ملک بھی اس کا استعمال نہیں کرتا.

ادھر مولانا کلب صادق کا کہنا ہے کہ میں نے تین سال پہلے پاکستان کو پاپستان کہا تھا۔ پاکستان اب پاکستان نہیں رہا، وہاں صرف گناہ ہو رہے ہیں۔ بے گناہوں کا قتل کیا جارہا ہے۔ اس کے بعد پاکستانی حکومت نے میرے ویزے پر پابندی عائد کر دی تھی ۔ اس کے بعد سے ہر مرتبہ لوگ مجھے وہاں بلاتے ہیں ، تو میں کہہ دیتا ہوں میری انٹری وہاں بین ہے۔ میں نہیں آ سکتا ہوں۔مگر پاکستانی سفارت خانہ نے مجھ سے کہا تھا کہ آپ ویزا کے لئے درخواست کردیں ، ہم نے کہہ دیا ہے ، ہو جائے گا، مگر جب میں نے پاسپورٹ بھیجا تو انہوں نے میرا پاسپورٹ ڈیمیج کر کے واپس کر دیا۔ ہم نے سچی بات کہہ دی تو ہمیں بین کر دیا گیا۔

The partition of India was a “big mistake” made by “our ancestors”, feels All-India Muslim Personal Law Board vice-president Maulana Kalbe Sadiq who wants to “make up” for it.

“Our ancestors made a big mistake by dividing the country into parts. One of the two parts is now called Pakistan, but we call it Paapistan because of the violence taking place there,” the Shia cleric said at the first summit of Global Interfaith Wash Alliance (GIWA) in Leh.

Maulana Zahir Abbas Rizvi, national secretary of All India Shia Personal Law Board, which is located in Bhindi Bazaar, said that educational institutions are places of learning, where you teach students to become disciplined individuals, and not bigots.

“If someone is hiding their body, what is the harm? Naqaab pehna is part of our culture…it is mazahabi. If you think someone is dangerous simply because they are wearing a burqa, you should hire a female assistant to check these students. It is these issues that are ruining the democratic fabric of our nation,” said Rizvi.

"We may agree to disagree on certain issues as far as Shia and Sunni communities are concerned, but our stand on Uniform Civil Code is clear we do not approve of any such move of the Centre," said Shia cleric Maulana Yasoof Abbas who is also a member of All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB).
"We have our reservation on triple talaq but a common civil code is a direct interference in our religious issues and we cannot allow that in any form or manner," he said. 18 Oct 2016: LUCKNOW: The Shia central waqf board of Uttar Pradesh wants a piece of history out from the Chota Imambara.
The items are two bronze statues stationed inside the main gate of the Imambara built by nawab Mohd Ali shah.

In an letter to the Lucknow district administration, president Shia central waqf board Saiyyad Wasim Rizwi said that the two idols were unislamic.

"Islam doesn't permit placing idols.... In Saudi Arabia, even mannequins with a head are not allowed. The statues should be removed to respect the sentiments of devotees who go to pray in the Imambara," Rizwi told Toi.

Historians and art experts however revealed that the statues were mere decoratives placed outside the main area of worship.

After Sunni Barelvi cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, while speaking on 'triple talaq' on Sunday, said that there have been instances where a woman has been married to five men and she was unaware about the identity of her children's fathers, Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists staged a protest here on Wednesday and sent a memorandum to governor Ram Naik demanding legal action against the cleric. A complaint has also been submitted to the police which haven't yet lodged an FIR.

It is never said aloud, but the smaller and more vulnerable of the two Muslim sects has often backed the BJP because of its perceived ability to keep the more numerous Sunnis in check. Jawad, too, shrugged and said, "There is no place where Shia Muslims are safe except Iran and India."

Jawad's house near Victoria Street in Old Lucknow is close to the locality of Patanala, famous for its Idris biryani, and infamous for some of the worst bloodshed between Shias and Sunnis in Lucknow. The spark for this violence was the elaborate mourning practiced by the Shia Muslims of Lucknow in memory of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, who was slain in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.

The practice of Azadari (mourning) was banned in 1977 only to be restored three decades later by the Mayawati government following a nine-month long agitation involving marches, hunger strikes and the self-immolation of three Shia youths.

"There is no place where Shia Muslims are safe except Iran and India."

Jawad, who was twice arrested during the protests, is seen as calming influence on the once volatile relations between the Shia and Sunnis. He has led several prayer meetings where the two sects pray together. In 2015, the Shia community in Lucknow invited Sunni clerics to speak at their "majlis," for the first time during Muharram.

On whether he believed that the peace between the Shia and Sunni was more than skin deep, "I don't believe those kind of problems with Sunnis exist anymore. There maybe a few incidents now and then. But what we are cautious against is the growing Wahabi influence from Saudi Arabia."

On the surgical strikes against Pakistan, Jawad gave Modi a thumbs up, but expressed his distress at the prime minister's visits to Saudi Arabia and the United States and his planned trip to Israel. "These are countries that make Muslims fight other Muslims," he said.

Shia Personal Law Board member Maulana Yasoob Abbas today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi here. 

"We had a courtesy meeting with the Chief Minister but a delegation of the Board will soon meet him in connection with our demands," Abbas said. 

The delegation will demand setting up a separate committee or commission on the lines of Sachar Committee for ensuring development and welfare of minority Shia among the Muslims, he said.

Shia Muslims in Lucknow have launched a “Gau Raksha Dal” to protect cows from slaughter. Shamil Shamsi, the newly-appointed president of Shia Gau Raksha Dal, has vowed to eliminate cow slaughter in the country.

Shamsi claimed that his outfit was formed after a meeting of Shia youths at Imambara Zainuabedin in old city of Lucknow, the epicentre of Shia Muslims in the country. Most eminent Shia clergies live in Lucknow.

“In the next two months, we will extend our outfit to all states. It is the duty of every Muslim to protect cows. We will pass on information to police about any cow slaughtering in areas where it is done discreetly,” Shamsi said.

“In states where it is not banned, we are hopeful that the government will put an end to it. We will create awareness about it,” he added. “It will be good if every Muslim household keeps food and water for cow outside their house,” he said.

Shamsi and his his team were seen sporting saffron towels on Friday. In the past, Shamsi has headed Hussaini Tigers, an outfit of Shia youths, and was also part of those who had opposed the visit of author Salman Rushdie at an event in Lucknow. After the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in Uttar Pradesh, Shamsi had also alleged that former state minister Azam Khan alleging had usurped waqf properties.

On April 5, the All India Shia Personal Law Board in its meeting at Lucknow had also demanded that cow slaughter be banned. The president of the board, Maulana Ashfaq, had stated that cow meat is haram for Shia Muslims, and a fatwa in this regard had been issued from Iraq.

Another prominent Shia cleric Allama Ali Nasir Abaqat Agha Roohi also issued a statement on Friday forbidding cow slaughter. Agha Roohi’s letterhead stated that he was also a member of the BJP. He said that for the peace and progress of the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ask all Muslim clerics to unite on issuing a fatwa to ban cow slaughter. He also claimed that Shia Muslims have not eat cow meat since 1960, when the fatwa was issued.

The BJP, after assuming power in the state, has appointed one Muslim minister Mohsin Raza, who is from the Shia community.

In a special leave petition, the Board argued that Emperor Babar, a Sunni, had no ownership of the Babri Masjid. In fact, he had only stayed for five to six days at Ayodhya....

The Shia Board said the trial ignored the fact that a Shia noble in Babar’s court, Abdul Mir Baqi, “created” the Babri Masjid with his own money. This made Baqi, and not Babar, the wakif of Babri Masjid. The trial court itself, the Shia Board argues, mentions that Baqi’s successors were mutawallis of the mosque.

The affidavit was an attempt to divert attention from corruption in managing of wakf properties, Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad said.

“I have met chief minister Yogi Adityanath and informed him about the misdeeds and illegal land deals by the wakf board. I am sure this move is an attempt to deflect attention from the charges against the board,” he said.

The dominant feeling among the Buddhists here, who comprise a thin majority — around 51% of Ladakh's population to 49% Muslims — is that the state machinery is consistently ignoring instances of conversion of Buddhist girls to Islam through wedlock.

Murtaza Agha, 32, of Drass in Kargil, married Buddhist girl, who changed her name to Shifah after conversion, sometime in 2016. While Shifah wrote to Mehbooba stating that she had married Murtaza of her own volition as they had fallen in love while working in a Delhi-based NGO, the Buddhist association stresses that her consent was obtained under duress.

Kolkata: Expressing solidarity with Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar, Shia cleric Maulana Shabbir Ali Azad Warsi threatened to overthrow the central government over their deportation. 

Warsi threatened the government at a rally which was organised September 18 in Kolkata in West Bengal demanding the settlement of Rohingya Muslims in the country. 

"If the Muslims are in minority, are we weak? You don't know the history of the Muslims. We are Hussaini Muslims. even if we are 72, we can kill lakhs," Maulana Shabbir Ali Warsi said at the rally.

انہوں نے کہا کہ شراب کی تباہ کاریاں کسی سے پوشیدہ نہیں ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بہار جیسی ہندو اکثریت والی ریاست میں حکومت کی طرف سے مکمل شراب بندی کی مہم اور مسلم اکثریتی ریاست جموں و کشمیر میں شراب خانوں کی تجدید کے لئے حکومتی ارادے ہم سب کے لئے ایک لمحہ فکریہ ہے۔ آغا سید حسن نے کہا کہ شیخ العالم (رہ) ائرپورٹ پر شراب خانہ کھولنا صوفیت بالخصوص حضرت شیخ العالم (رہ) کی اخلاقی اور روحانی تعلیمات کی بیخ کنی کی بدترین مثال ہے۔ آغا سید حسن نے اس امید کا اظہار کیا کہ ریاستی انتظامیہ عظمتِ شیخ العالم (رہ) اور کشمیر کے عوام کے جذبات کو محسوس کرتے ہوئے اپنے اس ناشائستہ ارادے کو ترک کرے گی۔

مجلس علماء ہند کے تمام صوبائی اراکین نے روہت سردانا کے اس ٹویٹ کی مذمت کی ہے جس میں انہوںنے دختر رسول ؑ اور زوجۂ رسول اکرم ؑ کی شان میں توہین آمیز الفاظ کا استعمال کیاہے ۔مجلس علماء ہند کے جنرل سکریٹری مولانا سید کلب جوادنقوی نے کہاکہ ہماری قوم نے کبھی کوئی ایسی فلم یا ڈاکومنٹری نہیں بنائی جس میں کسی مذہب کی مقدس شخصیت کی اہانت کی ہو ۔ہم ہمیشہ ایسے عناصر کے خلاف رہے ہیں جومذہبی شخصیات کے کردار کو مجروح کرنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں خواہ وہ کسی بھی مذہب یا فرقہ سے تعلق رکھتے ہوں ۔جتنی بھی ایسی چیزیں منظر عام پر آتی ہیں جن میں مذہبی شخصیات کی کردار کشی یا توہین کی جاتی ہے اس کا اسلام سے کوئی تعلق نہیں ہوتا ۔

مولانا نے کہاکہ جس پس منظر میں روہت سردانا نے ٹویٹ کیاہے اس معاملہ کا اسلام یا ہماری ملت سے کوئی تعلق نہیں ہے اس لئے ایسے بیانات دیکر ملک کا ماحول خراب کرنے کی کوشش کی جاتی ہے ۔مجلس علماء ہند کے تمام اراکین نے حکومت ہند اور انتظامیہ سے مطالبہ کیا کہ ایسے افراد کے خلاف سخت کاروائی کی جائے جو فرد کی آزادی کے نام پر مذہبی مقدس شخصیات کی توہین کرتے ہیں ۔روہت سردانا کا بیان قابل مذمت ہے اور انہیں اپنےاس بیان پر معافی مانگنی چاہئے ۔علماء نے کہاکہ اگر وہ معافی نہیں مانگتے ہیں تو انکے خلاف سخت کاروائی کی جائے ۔

The protesters carried out a silent march from Masjid-e-haskari to Aaj Tak’s office. It was organised by Anjuman-e-Imamia.

A Shia group had earlier put out a statement that Rohit Sardana had to apologise on camera within 48 hours. Sardana had tweeted an apology earlier.

 جموں و کشمیر انجمن امامیہ، انجمن حیدری نیوپلاٹ، شہید مطھری لائبریری جموں اور دیگر مسلم انجمنوں نے روہت سردانا کے پیغمبر اسلام حضرت محمد (ص)، ان کی دختر بی بی فاطمہ (س)، بی بی مریم (س) اور حضرت عائشہ سے متعلق دیئے گئے توہین آمیز بیان کی مذمت کی۔ احتجاج کے دوران میڈیا سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے انجمن امامیہ کے صدر سید امانت علی شاہ نے کہا کہ روہت سردانا نے سستی شہرت کے لئے مذہب اسلام کی باوقار شخصیات کے بارے میں توہین آمیز کلمات کہے، جنہیں برداشت نہیں کیا جاسکتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ روہت سردانا کے غیرمہذبانہ بیانات سے مسلمانوں کے جذبات مجروح ہوئے ہیں۔ انجمن امامیہ کے جنرل سیکریٹری پروفیسر شجاعت علی خان نے کہا کہ روہت سردانا نے اس سے پہلے بھی توہین آمیز بیانات ٹویٹ کئے ہیں، جس سے مسلم طبقہ کے جذبات کو ٹھیس پہنچی ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ہندوستان میں مختلف مذاہب کے لوگ رہتے ہیں اس لئے تمام مذاہب کے لوگوں کے جذبات کی قدر کی جانی چاہیئے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ روہت سردانا نے سستی شہرت کے لئے توہین آمیز کلمات کہے ہیں، جس سے فرقہ وارانہ ہم آہنگی کو خطرہ لاحق ہوا ہے۔ انہوں نے مطالبہ کیا کہ ایسے شخص کو میڈیا پر لانے پر پابندی عائد کی جانی چاہیئے، جو مذہبی جذبات کو ٹھیس پہنچانے کا مرتکب ہے۔ انجمن امامیہ جموں نے حکومت ہند اور پریس کونسل آف انڈیا سے روہت سردانا کے خلاف سخت کارروائی کرنے کا مطالبہ کیا اور انتباہ دیا کہ اگر ایسا نہ کیا گیا تو تمام مسلمان سڑکوں پر آکر احتجاج کرنے پر مجبور ہوجائیں گے۔

مملکت ایران کے معروف عالم دین اور خطیب سید مہدی علی زادہ موسوی نے دارالعلوم دیوبندپہنچ کر ذمہ داران اور علماء، اساتذہ سے ملاقات کیں، علی زادہ موسوی نے اپنے یہاں آنے کا مقصد بیان کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ وہ چاہتے ہیںکہ ایران اور دارالعلوم دیوبند کے رشتے راست طور پر استوار ہوں اور ان کواستحکام حاصل ہو۔انہوں نے کہا کہ ایران میں بے شمار علمی ادارے ہیں ، ہونا یہ چاہئے کہ ان اداروں کے طلبہ دارالعلوم دیوبند آکر تعلیم حاصل کریں اور یہاں کے اساتذہ ایران جاکر وہاں کے دینی تعلیمی اداروں میں درس وتدریس کی خدمت انجام دیں۔ اسی طرح ایران کے اساتذہ بھی یہاں آکراپنے علم وفضل سے یہاں کے طلبہ کو مستفید کریں ۔ اس کے علاوہ کسی بھی مذہبی فرقہ کے پاس ملت موجود نہیں ہے ، دنیا اسلام سے اس لئے خوف زدہ ہے کہ ہم ملت واحد ہ ہیں اور یہی ہماری سب سے بڑی دولت ہے۔ حجة الاسلام سید مہدی نے کہا کہ ان کے زیر قیادت کام کرنے والا ایران کا حج ریسرچ سینٹر 1200سے زائد عناوین پر اسلامی کتب شائع کرچکا ہے ، ہم چاہتے ہیں کہ دارالعلوم اور ایران کے علمی ادارے ایک دوسرے سے علمی استفادہ کریں ۔ انہو ںنے کہا کہ دارالعلوم دیوبند ایک ایسا ادارہ ہے جس کو دیکھنے کی خواہش ہر مومن کے دل میں رہتی ہے ، ایران میں چاہے شیعہ ہوں یا سنی وہ زندگی میں ایک بار اس ادارہ کو دیکھنے کی آرزو ضروررکھتا ہے ، یہی آرزو میرے دل میں بھی کروٹیں لے رہی تھیں، اسی لئے میں آیا ہوں اور میری برسوں کی تمنا پوری ہوئی ہے۔ اس موقع پر ان کے ساتھ ایران کلچرل ہاﺅس دہلی کے ترجمان حیدر رضا بھی موجود تھے۔ ملاقات کے دوران دارالعلوم دیوبند کے نائب مہتمم مولانا عبدالخالق سنبھلی اور مولانا عبدالخالق مدراسی نے دارالعلوم دیوبند کا تعارف پیش کیا اور یہاں کے علمی مشاغل وانتظامی امور سے متعلق تفصیلات پیش کیں۔ مولانا عبدالخالق سنبھلی نے کہا کہ حجة الاسلام سید مہدی علی زادہ موسوی جو پیغام لے کر آئے ہیں اس پر سنجیدگی کے ساتھ غور وفکر کیا جائے گا اوران کی تجویز کو اکابر کے سامنے رکھا جائے گا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ دارالعلوم دیوبند ہمیشہ علمی تبادلوں کا قائل رہاہے۔

جموں و کشمیر انجمن شرعی شیعیان کے اہتمام سے عید میلاد النبی (ص) کی اختتامی تقریب کے سلسلے میں امام باڑہ ہری نارہ پٹن میں ایک پُروقار محفل میلاد کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جس میں تنظیم کے زیر انتظام شاخہائے مکاتب کے ہزاروں طلباء و طالبات کے علاوہ عاشقان رسول (ص) کی خاصی تعداد نے شرکت کی۔ اس موقعہ پر انجمن شرعی شیعیان کے سربراہ اور سینئر حریت رہنما آغا سید حسن الموسوی نے سیرت نبوی (ص) کے مختلف گوشوں کی وضاحت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ صحیفہ ہائے آسمانی میں پیغمبر آخر الزمان (ص) کی واضح بشارت اور نشانیوں کے باوجود یہود و نصاریٰ نے حضور اکرم (ص) کی رسالت کو نہ صرف جھٹلایا بلکہ حضور اکرم (ص) اور مسلمانوں کے خلاف متواتر محاذ آرائی میں مصروف رہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ سلسلہ ہنوز جاری ہے بیت المقدس سے متعلق امریکی صدر کا حالیہ فیصلہ اسلام اور مسلمین کے خلاف یہود و نصاریٰ کے دیرینہ عزائم کی ایک بدترین کڑی ہے۔ آغا سید حسن نے کہا کہ اگر دنیا کے 56 اسلامی ممالک کی حکومتوں کے درمیان قرآن و سنت کی بنیادوں پر استوار باہمی اخوت و اتحاد کا جذبہ کارفرما ہوتا تو امریکی صدر ایسا فیصلہ کرنے کا تصور بھی نہیں کرتے۔

محفل میلاد میں مہمان خصوصی کی حیثیت سے شرکت کرنے والے مقتدر عالم دین آقای موسوی زادہ نے کہا کہ یہود و نصاریٰ کبھی بھی اسلام اور مسلمین کے خیر خواہ نہیں ہوسکتے۔ قرآن اور حضور اکرم (ص) کے واضح ارشادات کے بعد ان قوتوں سے رشتوں اور روابط کی محدود گنجائش ہی باقی رہتی ہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ ایران نے ان قوتوں کے ساتھ رابطوں کو انتہائی مسدود کر رکھا ہے۔ آقای موسوی زادہ نے کہا کہ امریکی صدر ٹرمپ نے اپنے شرمناک فیصلے سے اگرچہ ایک آزاد اور خودمختار فلسطینی مملکت کے امکانات کو معدوم کرنے میں کوئی کسر باقی نہ اٹھا رکھی تاہم اگر اب بھی مسلمان ممالک اس فیصلے کے خلاف خلوص نیت اور ایمانی قوت کے ساتھ مزاحمتی حکمت عملی مرتب کریں گے تو امریکہ کا فیصلہ سراب ثابت ہوگا۔

Sakina Furniturewala (name changed) was busy getting her wedding dress right last week, when she and her family were informed about a recent diktat issued by leader of the Bohra community. According to Anjuman-e-Shiate Ali, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin's council, weddings in the community can only be 
held at venues and halls shortlisted by it.

The diktat was issued by the council last week, after the death anniversary of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, the current Syedna's predecessor. According to some community members, the decree is aimed at discouraging families from singing and dancing at weddings and serving alcohol. The diktat, though, is not an aberration. Successive councils have issued several orders regarding how women in the community should dress, opined on the length of beards and even specified the skull caps that men should wear (with gold borders). Bohra caterers have been instructed to prepare only one appetiser and dessert at weddings, apart from the mains. (The community’s long drawn out feasts, served on a large plate called the thaal, are famous and justly so). Bohras are issued ID cards that have to swiped each time they visit a mosque. This, say some members of the community, helps the council keep an eye of them.

Muslims should use products that are made in India, and stop using ones from Israel and the United States, exhorted Maulana Kalbe Jawad in Lucknow after conducting Friday prayers at the Asafi mosque. The day was also observed as a national day for protection of Quds (Arabic name for Jerusalem) denouncing America's declaration of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The cleric, who is secretary of Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind, said that Muslims had the prime right over Jerusalem and that India's vote against the US declaration at the United Nation (UN) General Assembly on Thursday, had brought relief to Indian Muslims.

درایں اثنا جموں و کشمیر پیروان ولایت کے صدر مولانا شبیر صوفی نے بھی ایران میں بیرونی مداخلت پر شدید ناراضگی کا اظہار کیا ہے اور کہا ہے کہ ملت ایران کو اس طرح کی مذموم حرکتوں سے بہلایا نہیں جا سکتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایران کا سپریم لیڈر دنیا کا واحد رہنما ہے، جس کے ایک فتوٰی سے اسرائیل و امریکہ کو نیست و نابود کیا جا سکتا ہے لہذا امریکہ کو چاہئے کہ وہ اس طرح کی بری حرکتوں سے باز آ جائے۔

An FIR has been lodged against John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate in Hyderabad for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. As per the complainant, a ‘Maatam’ (mourning) scene in the film has hurt religious sentiments of a certain Muslim sect.

Shia community head, Nisar Hyder, said that a complaint was lodged with the deputy commissioner of police, South Zone, V Satyanarayana. “We have submitted the complaint against all those concerned in making Satymeva Jayate and hurting religious sentiments. We have requested that the filmmakers should immediately remove the Maatam (Mourning) clipping from the movie and then release it. It is clearly hurting the sentiments of Shia Muslims,” said Hyder.

The DCP, while speaking to the media, said that immediate action will be taken in this regard. “Shia community members have approached me and lodged a complaint against Satyameva Jayate movie over a clipping of Maatam, which is hurting the sentiments of Shia Muslims. I immediately ordered Dabeerpura police to register an FIR and initiate necessary action,” he said.

A case has been registered against the makers of the movie under sections 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage reli­gious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A person named Syed Wasif Hussain approached the DCP South zone and lodged a complaint following which a case under Sections 295, 505, 153A, 295A of the Indian Penal Code was registered.
